Arc & Texture is the sonic unification of Toronto-based sound artists Vanese Smith (Pursuit Grooves, Mo:delic Arts) and Caleb Klager (MMRI, wavemap).
Blending their respective expertise in unorthodox cinematic percussive sounds with emotive modular synthesis tones, they create layered bass-driven techno, dub, and ambient live sets that stirs equal parts body and mind. Each set is completely improvised, unfolding deep, unique auditory encounters between performer and listener.
Coming off recent performances at MUTEK Montréal, Toronto’s Long Winter, and a guest-lecture series at Queen’s University, they continue to deliver thought-provoking and multi-disciplinary experiences, often including hypnotic visuals.

Vanese Smith is a sound and visual artist, mentor, and educator based in Toronto, Canada. Under the alias Pursuit Grooves, she has released over 16 albums and EPs and featured on more than 20 releases and compilations. She creates sonically adventurous electronic (mostly) instrumental music ranging from cinematic, to experimental, to uptempo, and has performed at festivals and theatres across Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia and more. She is a 2025 Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize finalist. Vanese also creates imaginative video projection art under the moniker Mo:delic Arts.
