A heartfelt thank you to @angelika_onkili for for the incredible opportunity to be part of “Assemble: Helsinki in Hong Kong” at the @hiap_suomenlinna Gallery Augusta, which was presented by @hiap_suomenlinna and co-supported by @pf25culturalprojects Sharing my ikebana performance “Assemble” was an unforgettable experience. There’s something truly magical about being fully present with an audience, channeling my deep passion for ikebana into the moment. The structure for “Assemble” was created from metal and wood scraps sourced lovingly from the HIAP carpenter studio here in Suomenlinna. I was fascinated by the natural forms and textures of the materials. Each piece was telling its own story. Together with the audience, we honored their raw beauty and imagine the journeys and creations they were once part of. I was also thrilled to collaborate with @oscarchanyiklong , whose site-specific projection of the ink painting “We All Cope Differently” brought an evocative and dynamic dialogue to the space. A massive shoutout to all the amazing people @jakubbobrowski , @linusriepler , @aria_fn , Eleni Tsitsirikou, and Sampo Pyhala for your support and dedication. None of this would have been possible without you. And to everyone who came to experience it: thank you for being part of this journey. You made it truly unforgettable. ❤️🩷🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎 Video documentation by Aria Farajnezhad @aria_fn , edited by Hedy Leung @homelandintransit #helsinki #ikebanaperformance #草月流 #sogetsu #ikebana #いけばなのある暮らし #LETTHEMATERIALSSPEAK

#Repost @pf25culturalprojects with @use.repost ・・・ Hong Kong artist Hedy Leung’s ‘Menhir Tapestry 1’, opening performance for @radiox_basel 25th anniversary X Arts Festival, curated by Angelika Li / PF25. Menhirs, often of prehistoric origin, stand as monuments or markers, channeling and radiating natural forces for the benefit of humanity. The collective human consciousness harmoniously engages with these sites. The menhir becomes a conduit, channeling and diffusing nature’s vitality to nurture the human soul. We express concern and care for others’ well-being. Friendships flourish through empathy and mutual respect. Kindness and good wishes amplify the essence of humanity, paving the way for a more compassionate world. Isn’t that one of the utopias one can dream of? During a week of community engagement, we have received objects as well as their stories, blessings and different visions of utopias from their owners. Hedy transmitted the collective body of sound into paint, splashing it onto the objects, which she then installed onto the scaffolding structure she built as part of her Sogetsu Ikebana work. This piece embodies an interwoven collective consciousness, energy, and good wishes. During the performance, the artist interacted with the green material in Sogetsu Ikebana to complete the weaving of this Menhir Tapestry. This work is a gift to Radio X for their 25th anniversary from the community, along with their blessings to the world.

Feeling grateful to take part of ON HEALING: London Chapter at King’s College, a half-day programme created around healing, reflection, and exchange with @oscarchanyiklong @kithunghk @lukechinghk , presented by @pf25culturalprojects and Department of Film Studies at King’s College. The College Chapel has always been a special place where reflection, community, and creative exchange naturally come together, so it felt special to share my Ikebana performance “Choreographic Honey, once veiled in time“ there. Inspired by the waggle dance of bees, the performance explores collective care and communication through movement, ikebana, and material. The installation unfolded with beehive-like vessels made from reclaimed clay by @rescuedclay & hand built by Prashant Patel, together with recycled wax from discarded church candles. Draw on the collective rhythm of a bee colony, the choreography became a meditation on interdependence, how memories, fragments, and histories can gently come back into relation through shared knowledge, time, and communal bond. Thank you all for joining us and sharing your experiences throughout the day. I appreciated Dr. Wing-Fai Leung for sharing a conversation with me, her research and insights sparked such thoughtful and inspiring exchanges around my practice. A special thank you to Prof. Victor Fan, the volunteers, chaplaincy, and the wider King’s College team for your support and dedication to the programme. And many thanks to @jimmy2674 for the videos and @bucklandmiki for the photos.

ON HEALING — our 2026 focus first articulated in 2024 through ‘Inner Alchemy’ then followed by ‘To Sleep and Wake Unafraid’ and ‘Crossbreeds, Cracks, Currents’ in 2025 — unfolds through performances, moving images, visual arts, and community-based projects. It traces how creative practices respond to trauma, memory, and recovery amid the complexities of our contemporary world, bringing together artistic practice, lived experience, and attentive exchange across multiple cities. In a new partnership with the Department of Film Studies, King’s College London (KCL) and Prof. Victor Fan @tristanpupazzi , the inaugural chapter of ON HEALING will take place on 2 May as a one-day programme across KCL’s Anatomy Museum, the College Chapel, and the Somerset Room. It will be an immersive experience that brings together conversations, an Ikebana performance, and a singing bowl sound bath and meditation, shaped through the practices of Hong Kong artists in diaspora — Oscar Chan Yik Long @oscarchanyiklong Hedy Leung @modanzski , and Kit Hung @kithunghk ✨ We are grateful to Victor and Dr. Wing-Fai Leung for their contributions and for joining the artists in conversation. Together, these moments engage healing as both a personal and collective process of reflection, resonance, and sociocultural connection and renewal. You can find the full programme and ticketing details 🔗 in bio. This journey will continue in the months ahead. Alongside new partnerships and ongoing collaborations with artists, ON HEALING expands the curatorial platform ‘Homeland in Transit’ @homelandintransit , initiated by @angelika_onkili in 2019. Further site-specific chapters in 2026 are planned in Dornach, Basel, and Helsinki. Poster Design: D Mak @doshbima

Still feeling so grateful after yesterday 🤍 Thank you to @japanhouseldn and @ikebana.london for inviting me to share my passion for Ikebana through the demonstration and workshop. It was such a special experience, especially being able to work with a vessel by @karugane_akari , a ceramic artist based in Gifu, her work is currently featured in the exhibition #hyakko “Hyakkō: 100+ Makers from Japan” at Japan House London. The show brings together around 2,000 works that explore the balance between form, function, and daily life, an inspiring context to create within. My arrangement was inspired by Mothering Sunday, many now calls Mother’s Day here. Originally, it was about returning home and reconnecting, something seasonal and modest. As I reflected more on mothering, I thought about care. The steady, unseen support that holds everything together. The emotional grounding that happens subtly every day. So I chose not to use a dominant focal flower. Instead, I worked only with supporting materials, such as limonium and craspedia. Resilient, strong, able to hold their form. They rarely take centre stage, but without them, the whole composition would feel incomplete. To me, they represent that quiet, constant support. In the workshop, I hoped everyone could explore there is strength in supporting roles. And also enjoy a meditative moment through responding to the vessel and feeling the balance of space. Thank you to the wonderful teams at IIL and Japan House for all your support, and thank you to everyone who joined. It meant so much to share this time together. My piece is showing in the exhibition now for two weeks. If you’re nearby, please come and see it, and spend time with the incredible works by all the makers in the exhibition. Thank you, truly 🤍 photo 3-11 credits #ikebanainternationallondon
