A big moment for our young people 🙌🏽 We had the honour of welcoming the @mayorofldn Mayor of London to Marcus Lipton Centre for a major announcement - a £30 million investment into late-night youth clubs across the city 💜 ⬆️This clip (via BBC News) @bbc captures just how important this investment is - not just for facilities, but for the futures of young people across London. This is more than funding. It’s recognition of the importance of safe spaces, trusted relationships, and opportunities for young people to grow, connect and thrive - especially during the hours they need it most. Huge respect to the team who pulled together under pressure to make it happen - from last-minute planning to delivering sessions and supporting young people throughout. 90+ people. One mission: keep Brixton beautiful. 💜On March 1st, residents, young people, community groups and partners came together across Brixton and surrounding estates for the Brixton Community Clean-Up - a youth-led day of action focused on pride, care and ownership of our shared spaces. As one of the young organisers, Tafari, said during the event: "This is bigger than just a clean-up. It's about ownership, pride, and saying this is our area - and we're not waiting for anyone else to fix it. Every bag we filled and every piece picked up matters. Small actions create a big impact." The energy throughout the day was incredible - with around 90–100 people taking part, meeting neighbours, connecting with passers-by and showing real pride in our community. Huge thanks to everyone who made the day possible - the volunteers, residents and partners who gave their time and care to Brixton. Special thanks to Helen Hayes MP, Councillor O’Hara, and the other councillors who joined on the day, and to the young leaders Tafari, Alistair, Abi and the many young people who helped lead the initiative. Grateful to our partners and supporters who did the hard work in the background, including Marcus Lipton Youth and Community Centre, Action on ASB, Brixton BID, LJAG, Platform Café, Myatts Field Park Forum, Lambeth Council, and everyone else who helped make the day a success.
