Judge/Juror Mimi Bartels for International Emmys (Series), AMVCA (2 yrs running, Film and Series) and Global Entertainment Awards (film/series marketing assets) reporting for duty! Oh and another one I sadly can't post about until it kicks off later this year. I’ve spent most of my career working quietly, letting the work speak. I like it that way... But silence doesn’t always shift systems. In 2024, I served as a jury member for the Inclusive Lens Awards at MIP Africa, the AMVCAs, and the Global Entertainment Awards. In 2025, I return to the table — now as a jury member for the Global Entertainment Awards (an honour and learning curve yearly), the AMVCAs (an opportunity I take extremely seriously and respect immensely) and the seat I respect SO much- International Emmys (International Academy of Television Arts & Science). These seats aren’t just milestones. They’re opportunities to challenge how Nollywood is perceived — and who gets to decide what stories matter. This post is not for the spotlight, but to help shape the narrative. To ensure our voices — and Nollywood — are seen, heard, and valued on a global stage. Since I have known @the_toyosi she has wanted me to win. I cannot fathom why but she has truly, passionately wanted me to understand my worth and for that I will ALWAYS answer her call. I take a lot of inspo from Toyosi. She posted something at the beginning of this year saying "do you have your photos ready for your announcements", I know she wasn't talking to me directly but I tapped into that and said I will have announcements, it made me start getting ready for my wins. On your 40th Toyosi, I wish you nothing but love, peace, progress, patience, love and blessings. The most unexpected thing to hit me yesterday at the #AMVCAS 26, seeing Niko's name in 'In Memoriam'. He had never, in his whole career ,made it to that stage, only the films he worked so hard on. To know and see he was remembered and highlighted by his peers? Priceless. I cried like a baby (thank you my support system) but it was tears of surprise, joy and extreme pain. I cried because he was put in the spotlight by this industry he SLAVED for on the biggest stage in Africa- if I got nothing from last night, it was this. I BLESS you AMVCA for this. You are forever loved and missed Nico. We here for you and yours always.
