Roughly 1K rounds through the steel frame lower, and I have to say I’ve been enjoying it. I’ve mainly been using it for training people and during indoor sessions, but all in all it’s been holding up well—and she’s a shooter.
It’s refreshing getting back to the basics with a striker-fired gun sometimes, because let’s face it: when you spend time behind hammer-fired guns, you realize they tend to give you a bit more forgiveness. Refining those rough edges on a striker-fired pistol is always a great exercise, especially when it’s the platform I carry every day.

So a couple days ago, I got asked to show a few dudes that configuration and how it shot, so I threw it together and shot it at the indoor range after a training session with a client.
And I’m not gonna lie… I liked it so much that I swapped it back to that configuration yesterday, and I haven’t taken it off since. The steel frame has officially become my new carry gun.
The funny part is, I stopped by my brother-in-law’s house for a bit yesterday, and of course the conversation naturally shifted toward firearms. I pulled out my concealed carry, unloaded it, showed clear, and handed it over to him. The second it left my hands and hit his, he goes, “Holy crap, this thing’s heavy.” 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve got to say I’m Absolutely loving it.
Had a request earlier this afternoon: how would the Carry Comp upper shoot with a steel frame lower? I’ve got to admit, it definitely caught my interest. So after a one-on-one session, I decided to take it out for a spin and see how it felt — and I’ve got to say, it’s a pretty awesome combination.
I think the only thing missing is the three little popper holes I’ve been talking about. If I end up doing that, I might have to spend some time shooting Open Minor… time will tell.
But you can tell from the video itself — she definitely returns.
