Hello folks, welcome to "Let's Shine The Spotlight" on Mirror Moves #3 artists, Part 8 (and say a few words about how they made their way into our hearts and on the line up). Paperplane from Tilted 🛩️ We've met @paperplanexmusic in person at the last Mirror Moves (a connection sponsored by the Portuguese contingent @nunonunonunonunonunonuno and @calypsohighmusic ). We were already aware of his work for the scene, behind the scenes, as the creator of @tilted.ofc , a party he has managed to keep alive and well for over 4 years despite the challenges that come with running a night in London. Through that event, along with his "Imagine If" resident show on @voices_radio , he's been able to showcase his collaborative and welcoming approach to the craft and, in the meanwhile, display his musical finds and pay homage to producers and labels who inspire him. Paperplane is drawn to the places where the boundaries of House boundaries blur and stretch, leaning towards Techno, focusing on sounds that are driven but also intentionally warm and grounded. For Mirror Moves, in a show of unseen care and etiquette, he plans to deliver a breezy House set, a mix you'd expect to hear at the beginning of an open air festival: welcoming, soothing and crafted to lock you in for what's to follow. Make Money Mafia from Nan's Basement 👵🏼 Not all heroes wear capes: some just wear a flat cap and a big smile. One of these is unarguably @mmm.usb : a true supporter of the grassroot, he is always there when you need him (and even when you don't). We first met him at The Axis on a night we were co-hosting with @thesensitiveboysclub and ever since our paths have crossed so many times to the point of overlap. At the helm on the @nansbasement series of events, he's been throwing legendary parties all over London where he's been championing underground club culture, always offering peak quality in sound, production and hospitality. As a DJ, Make Money Mafia is as versatile as they make them (with also an unrivalled love for "good" DnB) but, this time around, he's planning to bring bold sounds drenched in UK old-school club culture with a forward-thinking attitude. MAÏS from Leese Geese 🪿 We have first met @maisssito virtually: we instantly clicked and invited her, on the spot, to join us on a line up. Just being lucky enough to experience her iconic Spanish flair, incredible knowledge of House music, along with her smarts and her jokes, paved the way for what has eventually become a special, beautiful friendship. Always reliable, ever supportive, we've collaborated on radio multiple times and shared line-ups even more often. Between many things, she's a member of @selextorhood and her Mood Swings monthly radio show on @lwstd.fm is a source of joy for many listeners. She, with her long-standing musical partner pableeto, also co-runs the party leesegeese that, despite the silly name, is very serious about the delivery of uncompromising House Rollers and Techno Groovers. As a DJ, her sound blends nostalgic warmth with forward-leaning club energy. Rooted in groove, her sets move fluidly across the spectrum of House. LYLO from IsBurning (Amsterdam) ❤️‍🔥 After listening to @lylo_does_music 's guest show on @rinse.fm for @angel_d_lite (recommended by our dear friend @alyssdiscs ), we HAD to get her on board. Resident at @rrfm.fm and part of the @isburningamsterdam collective, LYLO has been keeping quite busy lately: a guest show for @veneno.live , a set in Munich's @blitz_music_club , a closing slot in @tillatec at the end of an 80hrs New Years music marathon, being mentioned as "DJ TO WATCH" by @3voor12 , are only some of her recent feats. This Saturday, she will be on two bills in London, playing first with us at @hoxtoncabin and then for a sold out Disco Fiasco event at @dsuperstore 💄 Sonically, while freely moving between House, Electro, Techno, Bass and everything percussive, LYLO investigates the realms of space, low frequencies and rhythmic grooves, always looking to facilitate connections between music and dancers. Since then we've shared many line ups and supported his effort with @thesensitiveboysclub , a brand and event series aimed at raising mental health awareness, in and out of the dancefloor. To top it all, his kindness and humanity heavily distinguish him from the hordes of DJs in the trade just out for themselves. As a DJ, watching Aaron play equals witnessing a festival headliner: his mastery of blending genres and mashing up vocals on top of high energy, bass-heavy, off-kilter tracks make him THE ONE to keep an eye on. Bryan By Day from LZRD MUSIC 🦎 We have known @bryanbyday even before he started spinning bangers. His unconditional love for a good night out meant that his instincts were already honed once he felt ready to take up arms (or, well, decks). We've shared plenty of joyful dancefloor moments, some lost in the haze of time, others unforgettable like that very special @crazypmusic Day'n'Night Party (at @dalstonroofpark and @xoyoldn ), our first outing ceremony after a very long second lockdown. His work for @lzrdmusicofficial , alongside Ed Goes Steady, aims to unify crowds between London and Amsterdam in the name of Euphoria, with their events taking place in the most exciting locations on both sides of the Channel (from the early days basements in Peckham, to terraces in Covent Garden, to a bloody Shipping Container Crane in the Amsterdam Noord). As a DJ, Bryan By Day's sound draws from UK rave culture, Europe's electronic music scene and a love for Chicago, Detroit, New York and Baltimore House. Depending on when you catch him playing, you can usually expect sets ranging from Soulful/Piano/Italo House and Garage through to Jackin' and Hard House. Hey folks. In the run up to Mirror Moves #3, let's take a moment to shine the spotlight on each artist who, this weekend, will be blessing @hoxtoncabin with their selections (and say a few words about how they made their way into our hearts and on the line up). First up: Alfaz from Salotto Sounds 🛋️ After a bunch of virtual interactions, we first met Bangladeshi-Italian selector @alfaznrl at a @table_from_three event at @sjq_dalston and, maybe also thanks to our shared Italian origins, we immediately found a common ground. We had already taken notice of his @salottosounds because of the inclusiveness and high quality of their line ups (offering sets from the likes of @dj_himitsu and @lauren_beavis ) but only decided to get in touch after our friend @alyssdiscs (bless this woman, really) had joined one of their events. After that first meeting, we invited him to play at Kings Arms E2 and, boy, he did deliver so it was decided that Mirror Moves needed him. As a DJ, he's well-known for groove-led vinyl sets blending House, Garage and Disco with 90s Tech flair; although this time around there's no wax involved, the knowledge of tunes and the mastery remains so be ready to shake a leg.
