Continent Drift team in Singapore. Our 2nd in-person meeting since last September. Given that everyone is busy with different projects, it’s a rare chance for us to come together and connect with each other. 🌸👯 Over the last 2 days everyone has slowly arrived. As a kind of soft landing, we had a welcome dinner tonight before diving into a full week ahead. 🪂Looking forward to an inspiring time together. ✨

Still processing my experience at **MAGICAL VISIONS | Decolonizing Turns** that took place last weekend. I just love the title: magical visions. ✨In this troubling time-cycle that we are currently going through, magic is what we need. Magic not as an illusion, but an invocation, a reaching beyond the known, where imagination opens the heart and mind, possibility takes shape, and reality begins to yield. 🧜🏽‍♀️ I felt blessed to be surrounded by visionaries, dream-makers, storytellers, healers, shakers, rebels, builders, seekers, and… lovers. 💖 And on the arrival of the Spring Equinox too, when the days start to get longer. 🌱 Thank you @chakkars_moving.interventions for bringing us together and creating the space for it. 🙏🌸

We invite you to the 𝗨.𝗠.𝗕.𝗥.𝗔. workshops (𝗨n.𝗠asking.𝗕odily.𝗥ealms.of.𝗔wareness) 👤Who are we? 2 choreographers (@moving_touch & @ming.apur ), 2 approaches, 1 collaboration. 🌀 What is it? After listening to the feedback, we feel that it would be good to try out a new format: two separate workshops, each with its distinct approach to perception, movement, and emotion research on shadow. We believe this will give us the space and time needed to go deeper into each practice. We are seeking participants to test out this format. ✳️ Workshop 1: Shadow Space (Vera Shchelkina) 🗓️ 5 & 6 April @ 15-20 hrs Let’s hypothesize together: There is a Shadow Space — everything beyond conscious attention, everywhere not seen, felt, heard, smelled, or sensed in this moment. In this artistic research workshop, we will tune into these dark matters of body and perception — from the darkness of an embryo growing its eyes to the unseen everywhere — through somatic, neurophysiological, optical, and performative tasks: tracing with our skin, mapping blind fields, seeing with eyes closed, casting and being cast as shadows, and encountering our own dark twin in duos. The process will culminate in a group composition in our shared shadow space. ✳️ Workshop 2: Dancing with our S.H.A.D.O.W. (Ming Poon) 🗓️ 25 & 26 April @ 10-15 hrs We embark on a journey with our personal shadows, the parts of ourselves that we are unconscious of, fear, or suppress. This is an invitation to pause — letting ourselves sink gently toward our shadows, guided by non-judgmental attention, compassion, and curiosity. Through a process of listening, sensing, feeling, and dialoguing, we move with our shadows and transform our relationship to them. Note: this is not a therapy — it is an awareness and movement research workshop: you decide how deep you wish to go. Details • Venue: Kienitzer Straße 98, 12049 (Neukölln) Berlin • Participants: max. 8 (No prior experience required) • Cost: Free • Requirement: You can choose to join one or both workshops, but should commit to being present for both days of your chosen workshop(s) 👉𝗗𝗠 to take part! 🌑✨ #ShadowWorkshop #UMBRA #EmbodiedResearch

✨ **MAGICAL VISIONS | Decolonizing Turns** — a space for bodies, movement, and collective imagination where visions beyond (neo)colonial power structures can emerge. We’re excited to welcome Ming Poon as a featured artist of *Magical Visions*. 💫 Ming Poon works with applied choreography, using it as a tool to interrogate and re-organise the social and political relationship of the body. In particular, he is interested in activating the potential within the marginalised body and using choreographic strategies that involve decolonisation, vulnerability, care, queerness and failure. For him, movement refers to the body’s ability to move, take action, and have agency to create change. His works are interactive and collaborative in design, and usually take the form of collaborative performances, public interventions and intimate encounters. His practice is inspired by Buddhist concept of interdependence and care, Judith Butler's resistance in vulnerability, Jack Halberstam's queer art of failure, Augusto Boal's theatre of the oppressed and Nicolas Bourriaud's micro-utopias. He initiated Asian Performing Artists Lab (APAL) in 2020 as a platform for Berlin/Germany-based artists with asian background and is a founding member of United Networks, whose aim is to build a nation-wide network of racialised and marginalised (RaM) artists, cultural practitioners, activists and community organisers working with performing arts in Germany. Happy New Year, y’all! ✨🍃 May our journey through 2026 be sustained by healthy alliances and the spirit of togetherness.👩🏻‍🤝‍👨🏿👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏽 𝗬ì-𝗝ī𝗻𝗴/易经 hexagram for 2026: 同人/tóng-rén. I translate it as 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, rather than the more traditional Fellowship. 同means being equals or the same, being together, or sharing something in common, while 人refers to people or human beings. Together the term suggests that our progress this year depends on joining forces, whether in a team, friendship, family, or community, and acting together for something larger than just our individual selves. For many people, 2026 may prove to be an equally diffficult year, if not more so, and it is against this backdrop that alliance takes on particular urgency. Reflecting on what it means to be in alliance, I realise that it is fundamentally different from friendship. While friendship thrives on emotional connection and personal wellbeing, alliance is grounded in shared values, commitments, and purpose. One connects our hearts🫀; the other aligns our actions💪. In times of uncertainty — such as the present moment, when world orders are shifting and crises unfold on multiple fronts — alliances become especially vital. They are the fuel that keeps our fire burning🔥 and carries us forward.🕊️ As the work of evolutionary biologist Lynn Margulis demonstrated, 🦠life is not driven primarily by competition, but by partnership. We are not single organisms; we are communities. Cooperation does not weaken life — it creates everything. Alliance therefore is not optional. It is foundational.🌼 Yet the hexagram also warns us about alliance’s darker side. ☠️ When alliance turns inward or becomes uncritical, it can form echo chambers or slip into tribalism, isolating itself from the wider society of which it is a part. An “us versus them” mindset can take hold, driving polarisation and competition, especially in times of instability or when resources are stretched thin. The challenge, then, is to cultivate forms of alliance that remain open, outward-looking, and intersectionally grounded, capable of sustaining solidarity✊without devolving into dogmas or unquestionable loyalty.🙊

Wishing everyone a calm and restful winter solstice! ❄️✨ As the longest night of the year has passed, I want to take a moment to appreciate the wonderful people who accompanied my artistic journey this year. Heartfelt thanks to Manon, Furu and Mu-Yi for helping me shape “Shadow Dancing”. 💕🙏 To Moritz for entering into “Embodied Dialogues”with me 🗣️ and to Vera for co-developing “U.M.B.R.A.” ☂️ Last but not least, hugs to Jill for jumping onboard my research on dying so enthusiastically. 🪂 Each of you has brought a unique perspective and focus to my practice. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me! I have learnt so much from each of you. 🙏🌈💕 I am also blessed to be surrounded by amazing teams of people: from APAL (Haesoo, Mun Wai and Jingyun), United Networks (Nai Wen, Ava, Nat, Marque and Hannah), and my studio-mates (Jee-Ae, Furu and Sara). You all have been a personal source of light and joy for me during this challenging period in the German cultural scene. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ As always, the universe is full of surprises. Singapore beckoned to me and opened up unexpected doors. Thank you, Corrie and Yanling for roping me in for “Continental Drift” and Goethe Institut Singapur for inviting me to join a collaborative project between Singapore, Vietnam and Germany. What I love most about these 2 projects is that they are process-based, giving me enough time to sink in and digest. 😍 Also both require me to step out of my comfort zone, taking on new roles and seeing my practice through a different perspective. I am truly grateful for the support both projects are providing, in terms of time and the incredible teams they have brought together. 🥰🦋 2025 marks the first year of my new cycle — a year dedicated to unlearning and relearning. No productions, just focusing on research process, connecting with people, finding suitable partners for hold hands with 🤝 and sadly, letting go of others. 🍃😔 I look forward with excitement to what the next year brings and to growing our collaboration and friendship!🌼

Last research session for 2025. 👣 Super lucky to have Vera Shchelkina @moving_touch as creative companion and collaborator in my shadow research. I am fascinated by her physiological approach to shadow, which nicely counter-balances the socio-psychological approach that I take. I’ve learnt so much from our collaboration. 🫀👁️ In just the few sessions that we had this year, we have already opened up so many potential areas to explore. We even came up with a beautiful name for our research project: “U.M.B.R.A.”I love it 💛 Can’t wait to dive deeper into the research next year! 🤿💧 🎴Black Soma Cards by @somalintu and 🎴Manifestos for the Future by @ludomirf and @magdalena_franczak dropped in for a visit. ☂️
