Very honored to be collaborating with Baltimore's premiere 160bpm party @minced160 on two stops on @rally_nyc 's WRONG TURN TOUR with @s_l_o_w_r_o_l_l_a & @amitamarsanto . We're bringing speed demons @poutysrage and @pmmaire over to NYC THIS SATURDAY at @moodringnyc before making a post-vday stop in Baltimore next Saturday 💫 Jungle, DNB, footwork, juke, and club hybrids are definitely not unheard of in Baltimore's dance music scene, but as far as PMMAIRE could discern there was no actively running night dedicated to elevating this fleet-footed mixture. Back in spring 2023 she pitched the idea of minced to a few close friends and collaborators as ‘Baltimore's night of 160+ dance music' and has been throwing bi-monthly parties since December 2023. There is no overarching high bpm superiority intended, she and her fellow selectors just believe in nurturing a dance music culture that brings light and accelerated rhythms to a city founded on the pillars of timeless and groovier midtempo blends. The series is designed to embolden producers and DJs in their speedier and off-kilter 160+ hybrid expressions whether they are signed international talent, local deck wizards, or a glimmering and prominent out of state guests. With massive thanks to minced's 2024 bookings and personnel, vivacious, brisk, and at times rowdy sets graced numerous floors for the DMV's high bpm enthusiasts. You may already know about @midnightclubcollective and their running impact on the Baltimore club music scene over these past 5-6 years. But if you need a quick fill-in, the MCC has been an integral part of Charm City's modern musical fabric between their residency and event curations at the Crown, original productions and remixes released on the regular, and their engaging DJ sets that have left their mark on club, trap, and househeads alike. As of 2019 the collective has showcased a powerful roster of DJs, producers, and emcees, but for this minced anniversary we decided to highlight the MCC within the bold, energetic, and vicious formation of @_kadeyoung @pettypenguinmusic @s.dotmusic and @djbeastbaltimore To celebrate the 1st year of our party series, we wanted to close out 2024’s 160+ programming with a DJ crew embodying something special, fresh, and undeniably tied to Baltimore's dance music culture. With a night of footwork, jungle, and high bpm club powered by @pobalpresents the mixes are gna be relentless, so consider this your disclaimer💥🛸 Shape-cutters, crazy legg legions, speaker freakers, party ppl, bottle poppers, and booty bouncers, this is unabashedly curated for alla yall. A revered UK jungle and hardcore trailblazer, @petecannon has produced a number of esteemed collaborative and solo projects within the 160+ realm and also within the hiphop, breakbeat, and house music soundspheres. "N4 Records, his jungle and hardcore label, was established in 2019 and named after the artist’s London home. The label has produced ten vinyl releases that have had sell-out success. Pete famously makes his music on vintage hardware and his N4 EPs have been a driving force in the jungle scene’s renaissance. N4 has found support from legends like Aphex Twin from its inception and has been celebrated in the likes of Mixmag and DJ Mag. After a string of successful releases, N4 records began running club nights in mid-2022 and they have quickly become known for their uproarious atmosphere, with numerous sell-out events across the country." On local support we're thrilled to include @umbrelladown a force and junglist mainstay in the DMV hardcore scene. She'll be spinning a special vinyl and digital hybrid set with blends from the '95 - '00 hardcore and DNB cannon. Residents @poutysrage and @pmmaire will be in the mix as well with their measured and ecclectic array of easy listening (i kid, it's gna be murder style all night) @celestialspaces.hr and a wind down area will be available for anyone needing a pause from the sonic fury.
