Bijeenkomst Open Oproep Over grenzen 🗺️
Van de Doggersbank tot Hasselt tot een AZC in Amsterdam: grenzen bepalen hoe we wonen, reizen, plannen en samenleven. Op dinsdag 2 juni organiseert @vereniging_deltametropool een dag rondom de inzichten uit de dertien projecten die zijn geselecteerd voor onze Open Oproep Over grenzen.
Via ontwerpend onderzoek zijn verschillende dimensies van grenzen onderzocht: van fysieke en landschappelijke grenzen tot bestuurlijke scheidslijnen en sociale barrières. Samen zoeken ontwerpers en onderzoekers nieuwe antwoorden op urgente opgaven in onze grensgebieden.

In this work, mobility of sound and body places migrant subjects on the verge of a perpetual shifting, or in the words of Algerian-French sociologist Abdelmalek Sayad in a life of “double absence”. Movement and human subject are narrated through their in-between status where the question of belonging crystallises as an unsettled experience of being. The performers’ bodies serve as both repositories of memory and conduits for its transmission allowing for new forms of commonality, of returning,and of re-vivifying the rural.

In this informal session, Klodiana Millona & Yuan-Chun Liu go through the possibilities of extension of stay – conditions, preparations, timeframes and costs for applying, – possibilities (and limitations) of working as self employed non-EU artists and cultural workers in the Netherlands, housing, taxes and how to read the language of Immigration and Naturalization authorities in its official sources and its many vacuums.

This session is tailored for art students and participants of art residencies that are subjected to the (unequal) precarity of immigration policies in order to extend their stay in Netherlands.
Everyone is welcomed to join, learn, understand better and think together on how to assist and extend networks of support and solidarity on the draining and asymmetrical processes produced by visa regimes.

are architects, researchers and educators, working with moving image, sound and text. Their work grounds in the politics of space in relation to bodies, namely the politics of invisibility in space and invisibilized spatial practices. Thinking through the practice of counter mapping they interrogate constructions of history, (its) spatial ecologies of ruptures and architecture’s implication in perpetuating regimes of invisibility. Their current research looks at the spatial implications of citizenship practices and the (long term) effects on the bodies subject to it.

The duo's work is grounded in the politics of space in relation to bodies, namely the politics of invisibility and invisibilized spatial practices set against the hyper-visibility of certain bodies mobilized by regimes of surveillance. Thinking through mapmaking as a practice of erasing, extracting, and producing historical ruptures, Millona & Liu use counter mapping to construct alternative cartographies that reveal state architecture’s integral role in national identity building.
