'The Descent of Inanna' named after a Sumerian poem of the same name, is a comment on our patriarchal colonial culture of domination and its affects on women and mothers.
It can feel like the underworld mothering in patriarchy with little or no recognition of the feminine and its role in a healthy society.
Women and mothers in midlife are rendered invisible in favor of profit and wealth creation and we are all paying the price.
This patriarchal mindset applies to all of us regardless of gender - now is definitely the moment to step into our mother archetype with care and compassion.
It's hard to post anything at the moment but this felt appropriate.
Named after the Sumerian poem of the same name, which depicts the journey of Inanna, the great goddess from her realm in the sky, to the earth and down into the underworld.
We too might have to make this journey - in order to survive parts of us must die to dismantle a system which oppresses us.
"When one woman did something for herself, it ended up serving the world eternally all over the globe" - Sarah Durham Wilson
Yellow Bobbinet and dead stock powermesh dyed with the weld plant holds the body in its natural form.
Stone stays support the body during our descent into the underworld.
An ongoing exploration of bodywear and its role in supporting our reconnection to life, mother and earth.
