@harriet_ghost surprised us with a trip to lilidorei to kick off my first year of embracing the Christmas magic, and it’s something we’ll always treasure – hopefully, it becomes a new tradition! Safe to say, the baby slept all the way home 🛖🎄❤️
#pillion was our most recent watch over on @bafta view. Now it took me a beat to realise what I was really watching, and what I was watching was brilliant! This feature debut by @hlighton is a.. erm.. dom-com? Anyway, it balances drama and comedy, perfectly and questions whether what we want is what we need, and the fine lines of love and desire. Once you realise this film is a perfectly woven character-driven piece you remember to breathe and just sit back. It’s also packed with amazing talent. Harry Melling excellently takes the lead while his character certainly doesn’t, Douglas Hodge perfectly portrays the Dad most of us street rats wish we’d had. He made me cry for several reasons, but mainly his soulful performance. We’re also treated to beautifully intimate cinematography by @nickmorris____ who sets a lovely consistent tone throughout capturing lovely beats and unspoken moments. The ensemble cast, brought together by kahleencrawfordcasting, delivers a seamless performance which really build out the world of this film at exactly the right times. Pillion has certainly birthed a new genre, let’s just hope it’s crafted in such wonderful hands as these.

Our weekend was spent watching 2 vastly different things. Firstly we binged the incredible #thegathering then, over on #bafta view we watched #theballadofwallisisland which is such a lovely film. We watched it poorly on the sofa and had a little cry, only to realise they were both cast by the Amazing @catherinewillis ❤️🎬📺
We’ve been quietly working away on some exciting projects and we’re chuffed to share that one is our first ever short film, STELLA.
Written by award-winning Sarah Tarbit, STELLA was originally created as a monologue for stage. We have been keen to find opportunities to work with North East playwrights to develop their work for screen and this was the perfect project to begin that journey. We’ll be sharing more info about the film and the process soon!

First up is Women X this weekend! Screening tomorrow (Sunday 21st Sept) in the Duty of Care section, STELLA is also nominated for an award in the Northern Excellence in Acting category for Harriet’s performance!
