is there a word for an occasion that is the opposite of celebrated? it’s not your typical anniversary and not a birthday. and we are definitely not feeling festive. i guess it’s just still an “anniversary” that we “commemorate negatively” ??? this morning, at the very moment i woke up, i felt my pillow wet. i thought to myself, how could i possibly drool so much? then i rubbed my eyes and felt the tears. it took a while for my mind to awaken, but my body remembered this week. that day. that phone call. i think celebration is wonderful. i am constantly working to get better at it. but sometimes, i wish it were as “cool” to just sit with the sadness a while and let it breathe. i will continue to celebrate your life. but this week. that day we lost you too soon. not a fan. on this flight back home to visit your grave, i don’t really want to see it. been there and know it’s there. but the essence of you is not. i’ll still go, but it’s not where i find you. i prefer to visit you elsewhere. on a drive to the mountains. on a walk at your favorite park. on the couch, watching your favorite movie with sister. in the laugher we exchange sharing memories of you. in the tears that i dare to not hide. in the small steps i take toward a dream you encouraged me to chase. in the films and other things i’ll make. because you always have and will inspire to create something beautiful. I LOVE YOU MOM. congrats on two years of rest. but you better be dancing it up too or else i’m coming over there. thanks for still holding me up when i need it most♥️
