Two weeks of project visits - one finishing up, others starting, with beautiful and quirky existing things to design around - and a welcomed snow day home ❄️
New window we added in the stair in Montauk … lets so much more light in, feels kind of current, but still referential to the Stanford White designed exterior.
A delightful & fun collab with @emmakate.studio
If a flight is more akin to a bumpy old bike ride in the sky, is it as cringe to post?
Two goals for a project always -
I don’t want to have to photoshop with my eyes (no recessed lights, no ugly vent covers, whatever, yes I see that sprinkler head)
It should be just as beautiful empty as it is after we fill it up.
Filling this one up on Monday.
A nice collab with @elizabeth_roberts_architects

There’s an oft repeated phrase in the design world: “Always start with the rug.” But MICHELLE R. SMITH never really felt bound by this maxim until she embarked on a collaboration with Nordic Knots. “It’s something I’ve heard forever, but I’ve never really followed in practice,” the Brooklyn-based interior designer admits. Patterns that whisper rather than shout. Hues that slip seamlessly into a space. Textures that feel like they’ve always been there.
