“I am a curve-enthusiast. Whether it’s in the architecture I photograph, the objects in my home or the human body, I am always drawn to an organic silhouette. You will always find a circle or an egg, my favourite shapes.
Looking at my recent works as a collection, I see a through line I hadn’t noticed before. I’m always looking for a sense of whimsy in my images. Yes it’s men on the beach, yes it’s an interior, but how to frame it in an unexpected way. Suppose that is always what I’m looking for. Must be the Aquarius in me. You’ll also find a considered colour palette, as much skin as possible, and a sense of balance in my frames.”
Thank you @charl_edwards@janahuman & the H&L family, & @neilrobertshero for snapping me 🧡
I’ve been in a creative slump the last while. Overthinking everything and hesitant to share my work. A combination of the state of the world, burnout and AI has me ruminating, what’s the point of all this.
So I put this shoot together with some friends to try and reignite the creative engine. I’ve been sitting with it for a few months now in the same internal turmoil. But once I completed each image, that sense of satisfaction from seeing the finished product hit. Something I haven’t felt in a while. An image that sparks joy, that I created. It’s a feeling you only know if you have that innate nature to create.
It’s not lost on me that this shoot is ready as we enter the year of the horse. I’m hoping this means fresh energy, sharing freely and creating more in the year to come.
So I present to you “Totemic.” A series exploring a return to nature, a deep breath, connection and stillness.
