as far as dream interviews go…this one is truly one for the books. what an insanely out-of-body moment to interview THE one and only tilda swinton for our nourish issue. one of the things that struck me about our conversation was how she spoke not just with her words, but with her whole being. her fingers drawing scenarios, her eyes darting through memories, her shoulders languidly painting many pictures. and the wealth of deep knowledge she carried—of william blake, of gabrielle chanel, of literature, art, and most of all, of self. there were so many brilliant quotes it was hard to cut, but this one, in all its essence, captures everything.
“i find myself constantly inspired and nourished by the idea of ongoingness—that things continue, that evolution sustains us, that nothing is ever truly finished. i love that. i love artists who explore it. and this is the beauty of long-term collaborations: the image of a tree comes to mind. the most important element is the trunk—the relationship. from the trunk grow the branches, which are the conversations you have. from those conversations emerge the leaves, which are the films. the films or the works themselves are not really the point. it’s the conversation, but above all, it’s the relationship that matters.”

if you went to the school of jack and lazaro, raise your hand! for our latest issue, built around the theme of nomad, i had the VERY surreal opportunity to sit down exclusively with @jackmccollough and @lazro as they build a new @loewe : 180 years of craft, one very sold-out amazona 180 and a whole new chapter that they casually described to me as “a thriller”.
before nomad was an idea, it was already how so many of us experienced fashion. the fact that two designers in new york could shape the taste, dreams and obsessions of an entire legion of fashion lovers in singapore in the early noughties feels like nomadism in its essential form.
and so this story felt like the issue in miniature: fashion as movement, archive to future, anti-it bag to the one-handle icon. all of this ahead of the incredible news that the loewe craft prize making its south east asian and singapore debut at the national gallery singapore on 13 may.

had the most special experience with @uniqlo and @uniqlosg to share what i love and to hopefully always make a difference along the way. being a fashion editor means i get to champion people and their stories and the creativity that shapes this industry and that is something i never take for granted.
fashion is truly amazing. and so are my uniqlo t-shirts that i seem to live in forever. i’ll never stop talking about just how much the things we put on our body and the relationships we build with them can make a difference.
