I am thrilled to share that MULAYO: Based on the True Story of A Little Orphan Rhino, by me and my dear friend Jessica Lanan, is going to be a book with @harperkids ! If you’ve ever been heart-pierced by a story you’ll understand. Jessica and I met Mulayo while traveling to South Africa with @cbcc_wild and we couldn’t shake this little one-eared rhino’s tale. I am beyond excited to be working with @ninteli and the team at Harper on this beautiful and captivating story. I am forever grateful to our agent @emily_van_beek and to @thelaurebit for immediately championing Mulayo from the story’s first breath. We cannot wait to share this book. I think this book is geared towards kids who haven’t done deep dives yet. My five-year-old said: ⭐️Ka-zillion Stars⭐️ 📚 books I loved this book and I love all the animals, the difference between the tortoise and turtles - I already knew, but it was good to see that other kids can learn it too! There were parts that had some of my favorite animals- I loved learning about other animals that were similar to the ones that I loved… like the dolphin and the porpoise… [whispered] I didn’t know about the porpoise. I hope they make another one with even more animals and facts! #picturebooks #picturebooksaremyjam @foliojr

Happy Groundhog’s Day!! As a kid I always loved this day because — how fanciful to make predictions based on whether or not a large rodent sees their shadow? It’s fantastic and I’m always game for levity on a snowy day. So, I had to throw it back to @tinyaviary ’s fabulous illustrations featuring our pal, the groundhog, from our book SOMETIMES RAIN with @simonkids . This is my first winter back in the snow in 11 years, and apparently Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, so… too bad! 6 more weeks of winter. But, can we get a hey-hey for good ol’ Phil? How old is he now, anyway?!And what kind of mushroom coffee does *he* drink?
