I am just over the moon to FINALLY share about my authorial debut LITTLE LAND. It’s official release date is April 11th, but I found out today that it’s going to receive starred reviews in both Booklist and The Hornbook. So much love and work went into this picture book. It’s about things very near and dear to my heart: learning to love and take care of where you live by connecting and reciprocating with nature and land. I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks, but for now, here is the cover! Happy Earth Day, but let's make every day Earth day, right?! This is a watercolor sketch I made to work out the concept for the cover (next pic) of Just One Oak by @maria_gianferrari_author . Creating jacket art is usually the last piece I have to create for a picture book. Are you doing anything for Earth Day? I'm doing what I do regularly: plant and tend to our native plants, remove invasive plants (talking to you, lesser celandine and bishop's weed!!), and pick up the never ending supply of plastic trash around our neighborhood. Received my copy of Screen to Screen: Poster Art of Austin City Limits. I was fortunate enough to be invited to create a poster for this iconic show way back in 2009 for a performance by @andrewbirdmusic . I grew up watching ACL on PBS, and am very proud to have been able to make something for it. This is a beautiful book full of incredible poster art for so many amazing performances over the years.
