This is going to take a while to sink in. There were lots of reasons to cry happy tears on Friday night at our press night. All of my heart is contained in this show ❤️ a golden thread woven through the last 3 years, much of which happened to be a pretty fraught time personally. I have felt held in so many ways by my collaborators and carried by this gorgeous, urgent and endlessly inspiring source material. So yes, on one hand, reviews don’t really matter, but then on the other hand they’re also pretty lovely I guess, when they’re this nice… not to mention how they can help shine a light on the work of this incredible team of people. Thank you to @robgmacfarlane and @jackiemorrisartist for trusting us with your work - it truly feels like a gift and an honour to bring these poems and extraordinary visual world to the stage and try to help them sing out even further…. To @watfordpalace for your support, from sending your call out to local creatives during covid… it’s been quite a journey! thank you for believing in us! 💜 To the cast of dreams @miriam.nyarko @alexwingfield1 @tobydesalis #paulajames and @lucyplaysdrums - you have taken this further than any of us could have imagined ❤️ thank you for your talent, hard work and generosity of spirit. To Matt and Will my @goblintheatre crew - we bloody did it! What a way to celebrate 10 years of making shows together. I can’t think of a weirder and more perfect team of 3 I could ever want to be a part of 👨‍👨‍👧 and @andybarrydirector our associate - even sweeter to share this journey with you 💖 thank you for your patience (!), understanding and your vision! 🎨 to @hannah__hend - for making a set so magical that children just walk into the theatre and say “WOW” 🤩 Instagram says my post is too long with all the names of the amazing people who are a part of this - but I love you all ❤️💕♥️💖🦉🌳 And finally, to @okdavid_ and by extension my sis / family - it takes a village, partic for a freelancer developing stuff that definitely doesn’t have childcare in the budget. I am lucky. Hopefully the recent reform means things might be changing in the right direction. Ok I’m done thank you Xxxxxxxx

I was touched to hear @ned_boulting had mentioned this song in a recent @substack - thanks to those of you that came and looked it up on bandcamp… I was then sad to find the impetus for the article was the first cycling casualty of 2026 (in London). Back when I would spend up to 3 hours a day on a bike, these statistics would cut deep - they still do. I thought I would share the lovely video the amazing @tom_palliser made with some of Ned’s beautiful words, which capture much of where this song, and the album came from, written in 2014 with some good pals @oldmandanband @thatnicholasbowling and Andy Paine. Snowdrop Festival is ON. We had a blast making this ep, pitching up for a couple of days in the church and just trying to capture what we do live. We recorded four songs... Marigolds (Existential Musings) Otter Song (Man is secretly an Otter) Loverna (Prairie Impressionism) Dark River (Depression) With @meforqueen bringing cello, piano and wonderful harmonies.
