Saturday April 4th at noon at the Berkeley Piano Club, Town Quartet performs music by Fanny Hensel, sharing a program with pianist, Monica Chew, and publisher/musicologist, Molly McCann, AKA Hensel Pushers.
Do you like Mendelssohnâs music? His sister was equally gifted, but composed in a much more private capacity, constrained by the social conditions of her time.
The heart of the program is her String Quartet, and the piece from which it is derived, her unfinished Piano Sonata. Rounding out the afternoon are 4 pieces arranged for string quartet, and a fascinating lecture component.

So excited for this concert with The Town Quartet Collective on Friday January 31st at 7:30PM for @glenviewclassicalseries at @saintpauloakland 1658 Excelsior Ave. Oakland. The heart of the program is Mendelssohn's Quartet in E Minor, Op. 44 No. 2. While Mendelssohn was indeed a child prodigy, this piece is from later in his life, at the height of his powers. The rest of the program is smaller pieces. Piazzolla's Inveirno Porteno and Four, for Tango, Puccini's Cristantemi, and a new piece by Lewis Patzner (co-founder of Glenview Classical Series.) â¨Meet our musicians for Opus 4!
Sarah Biagini is a versatile musician, having performed everything from operas and symphonic works, to immersive experiences based on Netflix TV shows. Sarah is originally from Los Angeles, California and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she received both her Master of Music as well as her Bachelor of Music, both studying with the renowned violinist, Joan Kwuon. She has played with Bay Area orchestras such as Santa Rosa Symphony, California Symphony, Symphony San Jose, and the Santa Cruz Symphony as well as performed all over the world, from Cuba to Europe. An avid chamber musician as well, Sarah has performed with multiple groups throughout the Bay Area, bringing chamber music to intimate and unusual settings with creative programming. When Sarah is not playing music, she is traveling, finding tasty places to eat, and tending to her artichoke plants in her backyard garden.
