A wonderful evening was held in Navan Library on May 12th to celebrate the participants of the Stay Up All Night Film and Drama Hub with a special screening of their docu-film. Families, facilitators, representatives from Meath County Council and Down Syndrome Ireland all came together for the event, which was hosted by comedian Fred Cooke and featured a fun Oscars-style celebration for everyone involved.
Running from January to May 2026, the project gave adults with additional needs the opportunity to explore acting, storytelling and video production while creating original films on topics including friendships, bullying and socialising. The programme was a collaboration between Fiona MacGinty O’Neill, Fabien MacGinty O’Neill, Meath County Council Library Service, Meath County Council's @creativeireland Programme and Down Syndrome Ireland, and grew from the Stay Up All Night Book Club, which has been running in Navan Library since 2023.
Congratulations to all the participants on their creativity, hard work and fantastic achievements!

🎙️✨ Episode 1 is here! ✨🎙️
We are delighted to launch the very first episode of our 7-part history series “Back to the Cast”, created by the 6th Class students of St Paul’s Primary School 📚
This project was proudly funded by the @burrenbeotrust through the @heritage.keepers project, giving our learners the opportunity to explore local history in a meaningful and creative way.
Earlier in 2026, Mrs. Gibbons’ class took part in five weeks of inspiring Zoom workshops, building their skills and curiosity around history, storytelling, and heritage. Just after Easter, they brought their learning to life with a visit to @meathlibrary where they interviewed Tom French—usually found hard at work in the Local Studies Office here in Navan 📖
In this episode, Tom shares what it’s like to be a local historian and why preserving our stories matters for future generations.
A huge well done to our podcast presenter for today’s episode, Katelyn Campbell, for leading the interview with confidence and curiosity 🎤👏
Stay tuned for Episode 2 coming soon!
