We’re launching BABY FACE/FACE DE BÉBÉ by Sallie Fullerton, with photographs by Suzanne Girard, at 7PM on June 4 at @ndq_bar_mtl . Come celebrate the first book in the newly rehomed DOCUMENTS series. About the book: “A helluva aesthetic toast to human lesbian magic and ancestor worship, daggers, womyn and queers.”—Eileen Myles Constructed with the tools of poetic and documentary convention—fragmentation, oral history, rhythmic and imagistic leaps—Baby Face / Face de bébé weaves a portrait of Denise Cassidy, known as Baby Face, the first woman to own a lesbian bar in Montréal. Iconoclastic and authoritative, revered and feared, Baby Face’s story remains nevertheless largely undocumented. Yet for those in the know, the Montréal queer scene is nearly impossible to recount without her. The story of Baby Face is, too, the story of a formative time and place in North American lesbian culture and a testament to those who have worked to preserve her history. Blending photographs by Baby Face’s personal photographer Suzanne Girard with archival clippings, spliced interviews, audio from independent films, and other marginalia, the book offers a window into a particular moment in queer life—and a nod to the DIY methods often used to preserve histories relegated to the margins.

We are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the documentary and book on Border Tuner, the binational participatory installation developed by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer in Ciudad Juárez and El Paso in 2019. The documentary brings together audiovisual material from the project, focusing on the participation of the local community. The book, in turn, gathers a range of writers who approach the project from different perspectives, with both local and international contributions. The publication also includes photography by Mariana Yáñez and Monica Lozano. The project was curated by Kerry Doyle and León de la Rosa Carrillo; the book was edited by Michael Nardone and Edgar Picazo. Members of the organizing team will be present during the event. Free admission. Limited capacity. Refreshments will be served. Sunday, April 26, 2026, 12:00 PM Mexican American Cultural Center 201 W Franklin Ave, El Paso, TX 79901

Now Shipping! Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Border Tuner | Sintonizador Fronterizo Edited by @mdnardone and @eeedgaaar , with contributions by kerrydoyle2010, @tatigrams , #JuanLuisLongoriaGranados, #RobinGreeley, @drebelle and #LéondelaRosaCarillo, #SergioRaúlArroyo, #WillivaldoDelgadillo,lucia.sanroman.1, @cuauhmedina , and photo documentation by @monicalozano “Border Tuner | Sintonizador Fronterizo” documents Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s participatory art installation composed of powerful search-lights forming bridges of light that opened live channels for direct communication across the U.S.-Mexico border. At a time of intense anti-immigrant rhetoric, militarized surveillance, and nationalist violence, the artwork connected the sister cities of El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, creating a platform for people to converge along the border to speak to one another and listen across the divide. This volume features extensive documentation of the artwork and its activation by tens of thousands of people who gathered to honor the interdependence of life at the border. The book’s ten essays, presented in both English and Spanish, critically examine the legacy of Lozano-Hemmer’s project within the wider frame of artistic production along the U.S.-Mexico border. To celebrate the book’s release, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer will present “Border Tuner” in April at Museo Tamayo in Mexico City; The Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University in Houston, Texas; at the Centro Cultural de las Fronteras in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico UACJ; and at the Mexican American Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Rubin Center for the Arts in El Paso, Texas. “Border Tuner” @lozanohemmer 7.5 × 10 inches, 304 pages, softcover ISBN 978-1-941753-88-0 Bilingual Spanish-English edition Design by @in_fo_co Published by @InventoryPress Distributed by @artbook Now Shipping!

Sallie Fullerton’s incredible work of documentary poetics is now out in the DOCUMENTS series with Invisible Books. Baby Face / Face de bebé recollects the Montreal lesbian bar scene of the 1970s through image, testimony, and legend, weaving poetry from the traces of recessed histories. Having edited the DOCUMENTS series through the Centre for Expanded Poetics since 2017, Michael Nardone and I have been working with Norm Nehmetallah to relaunch it with Invisible — with wider distribution, larger print runs, and the republication of six books from our catalog. Norm and his collaborators have done an incredible job retaining the style of the Risograph printed books in this new offset format, and this first iteration is beautiful. Huge congratulations to @sal_liefullerton on a scintillating debut, and to @invisibooks and @mdnardone
