To survive, is, at its core, a continual act of repairing — of holding together what threatens to fall apart, of creating continuity in moments of rupture. To repair is a form of resistance — a refusal to discard, a choice to value what has been broken, a belief that restoration is still possible, even if perfection is not. These acts are not linear. They don’t unfold on script. Sometimes they are visible — a reconstruction, a reconfiguration, a purposeful withholding.

This year I flew a small airplane for the first time in my life, flew over the border of US/Canada, landed in Vermont, and presented my work at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
From my border to spaces I once only dreamed about—still moving, still creating, still taking up space.

In 2019, I documented a powerful art installation on both sides of the Rio Grande, The Border Tuner @bordertuner by @lozanohemmer . For two days, I photographed history unfolding in our region, witnessing human connection through art, community and technology.
“Border Tuner” is a large-scale, participatory art installation designed to interconnect the cities of El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Powerful searchlights make “bridges of light” that open live sound channels for communication across the US-Mexico border.
Thanks to @eeedgaaar and Kerry Doyle, who continuously support local artists, I was invited to collaborate and create the photographic documentation for the Border Tuner Archive and Book. Today, both the Book and the Documentary Film are a reality and they are being presented in El Paso — Sunday, April 26 at 12:00 pm at @elpasomacc
Juárez — Monday, April 27 at 6:00 pm at Centro Cultural de las Fronteras UACJ.
