Here’s a few marketing teaser pics for Emily Thurman’s new show in Paris “The Bells”
THE BELLS, Emily Thurman × Kevin Morby
CONTRIBUTIONS Paris | 20–24 October
The Bells presents Emily Thurman’s latest body of work for CONTRIBUTIONS, a festival of impromptu collaborations. The title serves as its unifying thread, connecting object, material, and sound, and brings together musician Kevin Morby and jeweler Zoé Mohm in a single act.
Thurman frames the collection as a resurgence of childhood nostalgia, a blueprint of perception shaped by the interiors of her youth. She translates those memories through movement, sound, and touch, honoring the past not through stillness, but through sensory encounter. The works challenge the quiet reverence once reserved for heirlooms too precious to touch by proposing play itself as an act of preservation.
It begins with form and unfolds as an act: a constellation of bells, some antique and gathered from distant places, others sculpted by Thurman herself. Strung together by silversmith Zoé Mohm, they create a tactile and auditory chain that links the found and the forged.
This sonic resonance extends into the space through an original composition by acclaimed artist Kevin Morby. Inspired by Thurman’s practice, he wove the harmonies of three mailed bells into his piece, their tones vibrating alongside piano and the ambient drift of Paris.
