As a kid and throughout your entire life, you grow through insecurities, heartbreaks, finding your identity and more. Whenever the subject surrounding beauty came up, my mom @jennifer_mchenry always said, “Maya, beauty comes from within.” A lot of our society prioritizes physical beauty and looks. But, it really comes down to the person’s soul that elevates their beauty and makes them even more stunning. Both of my parents always taught me the importance of being kind, gracious, and exuding love. Someone can tell you you’re beautiful and gorgeous everyday, which can feel great of course, but I get most excited when someone compliments me on my spirit, my empathy for others, my emotional intelligence; or admires something that I worked really hard on and and embraces the fact that I snort like a pig when I’m laughing uncontrollably. @daisebedolla had me laughing hysterically throughout the entire interview and I had to get it together, she has the best natural humor. These are the types of compliments that make me blush, and it’s when I feel most beautiful. Embracing yourself for who you are, your weirdness, kindness, and the good and the bad, is my favorite aspect of beauty. I’ve carried this advice with me ever since, and continue to do so everyday when I think about the complex idea and conversations that surround beauty.  It was always a dream of mine and on my bucket list to be in @intothegloss and talk about all my favorite products that I have an emotional connection with that make me, me and have been a part of my life forever! A special thank you to my Queen @elizabethgracehand for bridging the connection.  Interview by @daisebedolla 👑 Photos by @a.genova #ITGTopShelf  Outfit 💃🏽 Top: Jacquemus  Bloomers: Jacquemeus  Shoes: Chanel  Accessories: Chanel & Dior

All fashion girls know the best vintage treasures live in their mother’s closet, but @mayamchenry might just won the fashion lottery. With a mother who was a former model for Chanel and Valentino, her closet is a treasure trove of lovingly handed-down pieces of fashion history, from @chanelofficial classics to @ralphlauren Purple Label and even Matthew Williamson (specifically, the jacket Keira Knightley wore in “Love Actually”). For our latest #EmotionallyAttached, we’re stepping inside the NYC creative’s jaw-dropping archive to see which items she’ll never part with. Room Receipts x @archdigest a series where we get real about the costs behind one well-designed room. From big budget spenders to thrifty thinkers, covering worth-it splurges, budget hacks, and purchase regrets. I would’ve never imagined that @archdigest would cover my small little space and absolutely honored to be a part of this series! I remember when I was first in talks with @cozy.spice @indiajde @mclaughlinkate about the editorial and mentioning to them in disbelief saying , “well, this will definitely be the SMALLEST space you guys have ever covered, hahahaha.” I’ve been obsessed with interior design since I was a little girl because of my mom @jennifer_mchenry Looking back, we would spend hours at @anthropologie , Restoration Hardware, vintage antique shops, Shabby Chic in Santa Monica and Indigo Seas owned by the owner of my favorite restaurant, @ivyrestaurants like they were the grocery stores. I would watch my mom closely every time she would design me and my sister’s rooms growing up and the unique way she put her twist on things. I’ve learned so much from her and it was really exciting to take her talents and make them my own. Dive into my space that truly encapsulates all of my many layers as a Gemini. Check out an apartment that includes a mixture of splurges and DIY items. From a @missoni cushion to a white sectional I found on the street that I painted light Pink to create an additional pain-tree and how you can create something truly magical even in a small space. My space truly highlights some of my favorite artists and brands like @mrflowerfantastic @comingsoonny and childhood nostalgic treasures. Another one, checked ✅ off my bucket list! What a great way to close up the year as 2024 comes to an end🙏🏽🏡🔨🔩💝💝🎀🦄 ✍🏽👩🏽‍💻 @indiajde @mclaughlinkate 📸 @valineciaga @tyblackwater

This Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate not just my mom, but the power that mothers have—the power to protect, to uplift, to stand beside their children in their darkest moments without judgment. 🧡

Maya describes her mom as her best friend—someone so connected to her that she'd always call at exactly the right moment, without knowing why. But when Maya was going through the darkest chapter of her life, she struggled to tell her mom what was happening—not because she didn’t trust her or couldn’t go to her—but because she loved her so deeply. She wanted to protect the person she loved most from the heartbreak of seeing the pain and bruises she was carrying. She survived physical and emotional abuse from a former partner and hid it from everyone closest to her. It was her sister and best friend who finally convinced her to make the call after Maya ended up in the hospital. Maya finally called her mom, and she didn't hesitate. She flew to New York. She stood by Maya as she filed a restraining order. The system didn't move fast enough, so she pushed until it did. And through all of it—not a word of blame or judgment. "She told me I was beautiful. She told me I was strong. She reminded me of the kind of love I truly deserve.” This Mother's Day, we're honoring the moms who meet their children exactly where they are—without judgment, without hesitation. If you or someone you love needs support, we're here. Visit safehorizon.org or call our 24/7 HOPE Hotline: 📞 1-800-621-4673 (HOPE)

Honored doesn’t even begin to cover it. ✨ Being part of the Benefit Committee for the Misty Copeland Foundation’s Spring Gala was such a meaningful experience—surrounded by women I deeply admire, all coming together in support of something bigger than ourselves. What Misty has built goes far beyond ballet. Through this foundation, she’s opening doors, creating access, and inspiring the next generation to see themselves in spaces they may have never imagined. 🩰 Special thanks to @thejusticefaith @niafaith for bringing me along on this ride! @mistycopelandfdn @bfa @abstrac.t @cdugganphoto

Philanthropy, but make it next gen! 💜 The @mistycopelandfdn is flipping the script on what a gala can be and who it’s for. Led by a new class of young power players, the inaugural Spring Benefit centers impact, community, and access. At the heart of it all is Misty Copeland, whose legacy at American Ballet Theatre continues to open doors for the next generation on and off the stage. From mentorship that changes lives to programs like BE BOLD and BE BOLDER, the work is about building pathways, breaking barriers, and making space in an art form that has not always been accessible. With honorary co-chairs like Debbie Allen and Tracee Ellis Ross, the energy around this moment is bold, intentional, and community-driven. Want to be part of the movement? Honored to serve on the Benefit Committee for this year’s @mistycopelandfdn @mistyonpointe Spring Benefit 💜 On April 29th in New York City, an incredible community of leaders across the arts, philanthropy, fashion, and business will come together to celebrate and support a mission that truly matters. The Misty Copeland Foundation is opening doors for the next generation—providing free dance education and full-tuition scholarships to Alvin Ailey and Dance Theatre of Harlem for children across Harlem and the Bronx. It’s about making ballet joyful, accessible, and rooted in community. I’m deeply grateful to stand alongside such an inspiring group of women I’ve long admired, all united in uplifting young dancers and expanding what’s possible for them.🩰 ✨ Here’s to an evening of purpose, beauty, and impact.
