Introducing Ferry House – a modern design with glazing by Maxlight (@maxlightltd )
This home integrates with its surroundings, with the main living wing offering views of the river, flood plains, and the cathedral beyond. Framed views to the north show off the woodland, while the kitchen garden to the NE adds charm to the space. Large windows on both sides of the living area flood the space with light, enhancing views and allowing for effective cross ventilation. The dual-aspect master bedroom at the opposite wing enjoys views over the riverbend towards Longford Castle and across the flood plains to Salisbury Cathedral.
Maxlight is proud to have contributed to this project as the glazing supplier and thrilled to see Ferry House recognised with a RIBA South West & Wessex Award. 🌿✨

Modern glazing is more than a design feature. It shapes how a home feels, opening up the space, framing the view and allowing natural light to become part of everyday living.

Glazing plays a huge part in shaping an architectural vision.
From inside this home, the view is the highlight, with the garden beautifully from the staircase. It brings natural light into the home with the up-and-over rooflight, changing the way the interior feels, and lets you experience the home from a lighter, more open perspective.

Green Lodge is defined by a single, coherent architectural language, where structure, material and proportion are resolved as one unified whole. Fair-faced concrete spine walls read in dialogue with external horizontal concrete bands, which articulate the internal floor levels across the façade. Bespoke timber frames are consistently expressed inside and out, while larch cladding extends this material continuity.

There’s something incredibly transformative about beautifully designed glazing, the way it shapes the light within a space, softens the boundary between indoors and out, and completely changes how a home feels to live in.
Maxlight’s slim sightlines and expansive panes flood the kitchen with natural light throughout the day, while framing the garden almost cinematically. When the centre-parting doors are fully opened in summer, the entire space takes on the feeling of an open-air kitchen living space.
Maxlight’s customer service is exceptional from beginning to end, with thoughtful communication, meticulous site checks and an installation process that is seamless.
After years of living with them, they remain one of the most impactful design decisions we made within our home. 🖤
Designed to bring in more light and make everyday spaces feel more open, our double sliding doors create a calmer connection between inside and out. From home offices to garden-facing living spaces, they help the home feel brighter, more flexible, and more considered.
Good glazing should do two things well: look right and feel right. This triple slider delivers both, flooding the space with light while adding a distinctive design detail.

When planning an extension, door configuration matters more than most people think.
A triple sliding door gives you:
– Larger opening widths than a standard 2-panel system
– Better control over ventilation and access
– A balanced look across wider elevations
In this case, it keeps the design simple while still delivering on light, access, and usability.

A calm, light-filled extension built around two elements:
a triple slider and a pivot door.
One opens the whole space up.
The other makes everyday use effortless.
Both sit within a clean, minimal frame, allowing natural light to move freely through the space.
