It's rare that I named in the same category as Gareth Southgate, David Gandy and Prime Minister in waiting Wes Streeting. But here we are.
I'm honoured to be named one of the inaugural Centre for Policy Research on Men and Boys ‘Men & Boys Champions’, recognising those who are championing and supporting men and boys.
👉 Doubtless there will be some who ask, why do men and boys need champions?
The answer is two fold:
1) Gender roles have fundamentally changed and boys and men find themselves in need of a new script. A model of masculinity that is both modern and yet recognisably male - it is a difficult transition.
2) Boys and men continue to be affected by some bad outcomes - in education, in mental and physical health, and many more - that need solutions designed for men as they are, not how some people want to wish them into being.
It's not a zero sum game. Flourishing men and boys can co-exist with flourishing women and girls. In fact, they are interdependent.
