The impact Hoopla has had on the UK improv community is remarkable. Over the past two decades, Hoopla has been home to countless brilliant shows and performers. Many improvisers who started out at Hoopla have gone on to the West End, TV and radio - and now they’re back as part of the 20th anniversary festival. Seaside Scenes! Improv Comes To Folkestone! A lively improv scene is emerging in Folkestone, led by the brilliant performer and teacher @ltrodd and her company @folkestoneimprovtheatre (FIT). Founded in 2024, FIT runs regular courses, workshops, and community jams for all experience levels, building a space for people to learn and perform improv on the Kent coast. This year, they have settled into a new home at @theloftstudio.uk for The FIT Improv Show - a monthly night of improvised comedy, games, music and new formats. Shows are running on the first Wednesday of the month through to July. Alongside regular performances, FIT continues to bring in top guest teachers from across the UK for their ‘FIT Weekenders’. Next up is a ‘Building Improv Characters’ workshop with @susanharrisoncomedy on the 11th April, offering improvisers a chance to develop their skillsets. With a new venue, expanding programme and a growing community of “Fitties”, FIT is putting Folkestone firmly on the improv map. Big Shows at Big Scene! The Free Association (@faimprov ) have announced the full lineup for Big Scene (@bigscenefest ) improv festival. Big Scene will take place over 5 days, from the 13th-17th May 2026 at The FA’s theatre in Southwark, London and the Union Theatre next door. There are 25 shows and 40 teams taking part in a jam-packed programme of improvisation. The lineup includes popular hit FA shows alongside top international groups, new talent and UK favourites. Highlights from the confirmed programme include: @cookcountysocialclub (Chicago), @asianafshow (Los Angeles), @impromptunes (Melbourne), Mailbox #23 (London) and @tdltrcomedy (London). Tickets for all shows go on sale on Wednesday 18th March at 7pm. Festival workshops are set to be announced shortly.
