Delighted to be honoured once again with a spot in the @houseandgardenuk cohort of top designers, reimagined this year as #HG101. It's always a pleasure to be included among such fine company. This year's list is filled, as ever, with colleagues and friends whose work we greatly admire, and who continue to shape the industry in wonderfully creative ways. With heartfelt thanks to the House & Garden team for the tremendous support you've shown us over the years, to our clients, and of course to the Max Rollitt team for the trust, hard work and – most of all – the joy that goes into all we do. Popular throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, tôle peinte pieces balance practicality with artistry, elevating functional items such as trays, teaware and occasional tables through colour and ornament. This tripod table (c.1850), with its toleware tray top and gilded decoration to the baluster stem, is a wonderful example. Alive with detail, texture and movement, it makes an elegant occasional table beside a chair or sofa. Enquire via our link in bio.

Fresh from the bench: a hand-carved leg bound for one of our favourite Bespoke pieces. Any guesses which? 📸: @edward_rollitt

With less than one month to go until our first-ever WOW!house, the Barn has been even buzzier than usual, with new pieces taking shape, finishing touches being chosen, and a steady flow of visitors helping us bring the scheme to life. Most recently, we’ve been delighted to welcome our friends at @schumacher_uk , with whom we’re honoured to be creating this year’s WOW!house Dining Room. Getting to know the Schumacher team and exploring their extraordinary historical archive together has been an absolute joy. We can’t wait to share it with you all. Swipe to open... This fine Edo-period Japanese lacquer cabinet is the first of May’s antique treasures. Decorated with floral mother-of-pearl inlay, gilt foliate lacquerwork and engraved gilt-brass hinges, it is a piece of beauty and precision, with extraordinary attention to detail both inside and out. With thanks to @verandamag for choosing this little corner for the cover of their Ultimate Guide to Antiques. What better excuse to return for a closer look at a favourite project? Throughout this coastal villa, we used antiques to bring their singular magic to each space. The tangible softness that comes from centuries of use, but also something harder to define – a feeling of humanity, character, and wit. Explore the full house via our link in bio. 📸: @horwoodphoto

Here, meeting an old friend, is the final of our #HG101 designers to visit the V&A East Storehouse: Max Rollitt. A long-time admirer of Thomas Chippendale, Max was drawn to an antique chair made for Mrs Garrick, circa 1790 - its simulated bamboo form and gothic detailing striking a familiar chord. He first encountered the chair as a student, visiting the V&A on a college trip; years later, he finds himself standing before it once again. Viewed now through a maker’s eye, it is the construction as much as the aesthetic that captivates: a careful balance of formality and whimsy, with a touch of ‘faux rustication’ that softens its Georgian precision. For Max, it is this tension - between refinement and playfulness - that gives the piece its enduring appeal. Discover more from the V&A East Storehouse and this year’s #HG101 at the link in bio. We’re very proud to be part of WOW!house 2026 @designcentrech collaborating with @max_rollitt who brings a distinctly British sensibility to the dining room. Schumacher fabrics refine the space, from lavishly textured walling to layered upholstery and drapery, giving depth, colour, and character to the room. Inspired by an 18th-century dining room at dusk, the room is rich in atmosphere, craftsmanship, and historical reference. Don’t miss WOW!house 2026 – book your tickets today via the link in bio. A corner with much to draw the eye. Lustrous velvet and beetled linen, raw sycamore and polished brass, the softly curling leaves of Morris' Willow Boughs and the time-blurred blooms of an antique carpet underfoot. And at its centre, grounding it all with form and precision, our Max Rollitt Bespoke Uppark sofa. Based on an 18th-century model by Gillows, the Uppark is made to order in the UK using traditional methods and materials, with a solid beech frame, mortice and tenon joints, and your choice of fabric.
