Come join us for a lively Tết feast featuring five+ regional dishes, drinks, live music from local Viet artists, cultural games, and lots of community connection to ring in the Year of the Horse! Hosted by the Vietnamese Creative Society (VCS), @mavalabs (an experimental art, food, and entertainment studio), and @welcome.to.chinatown , this will be an exciting event full of comfort and joy. ​Schedule: ​6 PM: Doors Open ​7 - 8 PM: Performances ​8 - 9 PM: Karaoke or just chill :) ​ What a ticket gets you: ​​🍲 Food: Five+ traditional and creative dishes from across the Northern, Central, and Southern parts of Vietnam. Menu inspired by the fairytale behind bánh chưng (the official dish of Tết), where the emperor put out a cooking competition across Vietnam to determine his heir. Food prepared by @mavalabs (they run an incredible supper club series!), @figznchibz (local Viet bakery), and resident chefs and bakers at VCS :) ​​🍹 Drinks: Wine from local Viet wine business MaiVino (@its.maivino ) ​​🎶 Performances: Come hear live music from local Vietnamese artists… ​​🎤 Karaoke: … or be the performer yourself! "When I think about Tết and the intersection with the art form I love, music, I ironically think a lot about quietness... my experience growing up was primarily my mom just bringing back home Bánh chưng and Bánh tét for her, my sister, and I to enjoy. Had a great time making dessert for my first supper club with @mavalabs ! @mary2chen and I chose to build a menu around chrysanthemum, the quintessential fall flower, and explore an ingredient we both wanted to learn more about 🌼 I developed two chrysanthemum-based recipes, taking inspiration from ingredients typically found in traditional Chinese medicine: - a chrysanthemum charlotte cake with cognac-infused creme bavaroise and spiced pear - a chrysanthemum pavlova topped with jujube, almonds, and goji berries

💐🍴supper club vol. 2 🍴💐 join us for a mava labs collaboration with @haveyourcake.nyc ! we are excited to partner with chris cao for an incredibly floral supper club. the meal is heavily inspired by the queen of the fall flowers, chrysanthemum. every dish in this multi-course meal has hints or stars chrysanthemum. this event will also serve as a fundraiser for the @immdefense (an org securing justice for all immigrants, esp ones facing detention and deportation) and the @arc_southeast (an org brings reproductive justice and access to people in the southeast). we will match all of our profits, meaning for every dollar we make, we will match. if you cannot make it to the event, you can still donate! mava labs values hands-on experiences, so we be making art inspired by chrysanthemums and running a discussion on mutual aid. 🎟️ rsvp in bio🎟️ sunday, november 17th 6:30pm $75/pp limited seating! —————— what is supper club? supper club is a new food series where we roll out a theme for each season. each meal will feature one star dish dependent on seasonal ingredients. at mava labs, we value a hands-on approach to all of our events, so each supper club will include a workshop and topic discussion.
