New release! After more than a decade of collaboration, multiple commissions and countless concert, Jonne Grans and I are releasing an album of Finnish chamber music for guitar and accordion. “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla from the April concert “From Persian Gardens to Tango Streets” in Toronto, performed with the incredible @matpuli on accordion.

Piazzolla wrote this piece in 1974 when he was breaking away from old tango traditions and creating what we now call tango nuevo. Even its name mixing “libertad” (freedom) and “tango” shows his desire for a freer, more modern, and more expressive sound full of energy, improvisation, and new colors.💃
