Featuring Colin Maier on oboe, Tino Popovic on violin, Dobrochna Zubeck on cello and Matti Pulkki on the accordion, for almost 3 decades, Quartetto Gelato has toured the globe, performing their own arrangements of classical masterworks, sizzling world and roots music, heartfelt popular melodies and lighthearted jazz and ragtime. This one-of-a- kind ensemble’s theatrical stage presence and relaxed humour has established an intimate rapport with listeners and a reputation for onstage excellence. Quartetto Gelato’s international career was launched when they won the coveted title of NPR Performance Today’s “Debut Artist of the Year.” The group’s first DVD, Quartetto Gelato: A Concert in Wine Country, was picked up by PBS throughout the U.S. in 2007 and is still broadcast regularly.
