A weekend of encounters, processes, and shared reflections 🌿
Exhibition opening weekend in Athens (April 24–26) Exhibition #1 (Athens) unfolded through presentations, walks, and shared practices connecting research, ecological thinking, and collective processes. At NTUA, Annalisa Zegna and Garance Maurer presented their research, followed by an introduction to the MATCH project by Nicholas Anastasopoulos. The program continued with a walk along the Pikrodafni stream and a field visit to Mount Parnitha as part of the Pyroscapes research. At Duncan Dance Centre, discussions and presentations reflected on the ecology of the garden and embodied approaches to perception, with contributions by Annalisa Zegna, Garance Maurer and Vitoria Kotsalou. Workshops with plant-based inks and clay took place over the weekend, alongside a ceramic firing process that culminated in the collective excavation of the works. An ongoing weaving practice continues each Sunday, gradually building a shared textile archive of the project. 🌿 EXHIBITION #2 | NICOSIA 🌿 The MATCH journey continues in Nicosia with the second exhibition, which will take place at the Gardens of the Future from 25 April to 28 May 2026. As part of their residency, artists Christina Zampoulaki and Caterina Miralles opened their studio to the public, sharing an insight into their ongoing research and collaborative process. Their work brings together “Earth-bound Exercises” and “Margins of Definition”, two interconnected projects exploring how we relate to land shaped by extraction, colonial histories, and ecological transformation. Working between the Gardens of the Future and the landscape of the former Skouriotissa copper mine, the artists developed a practice grounded in attentiveness, care, and presence. Through fieldwork, mapping, water systems, and material experimentation, land emerges as a living system—holding memory and inviting new ways of knowing. Christina Zampoulaki’s residency focused on the garden as a hybrid water system, where plants and human interventions form networks of collection, storage, and redistribution. Her work includes material experiments and a cyanotype zine tracing water as a shared, uneven system shaped by care and scarcity. Caterina Miralles developed Margins of Definition during her residency in Nicosia, combining audiovisual installation and a permanent water collection structure in the garden. The project explores how land is defined through mapping, borders, and systems of control across different scales, from infrastructures to micro-ecologies. 📍 Gardens of the Future, Nicosia 📅 Opening: 25 April 2026, 17:00–22:00 🕚 Guided tour: 26 April 2026, 11:00–13:00 📆 Exhibition open: 27 April – 28 May (Thursdays and by appointment) Find out more at matchproject.eu Project partners: @mapadasideias @d6_eu_ @archntua @bjcem_aisbl @frichelabelledemai Local partners: @deltapiproductions @k2izmir @laescocesabcn Co-funded by @creative.eu #matchproject #nicosia #exhibition #CreativeEurope

🌿🌾MATCH Residency 4 Barcelona — Recap 🌾🌿 Hosted at @laescocesabcn , this MATCH residency brought together artists Nafsika Hadjichristou and Hannah Taylor for a period of research, experimentation, and exchange in Barcelona. Nafsika Hadjichristou explored how we can imagine collective futures beyond climate collapse through collective imagination and engagement with living practices in the city. Through workshops and research, she connected with social spaces and community gardens experimenting with alternative ways of living, creating and repairing relationships with the world around us. The residency concluded with an experimental stop-motion collage animation lab, bringing together participants to collectively imagine and materialise possible futures. She is now developing an audiovisual collage based on these shared experiences. Hannah Taylor focused on direct engagement with landscapes and materials in Barcelona and the wider region. Through walks and informal gatherings, she collected overlooked materials from “Third Landscapes” and engaged with syntropic agriculture projects and urban gardens. She also explored urban systems of reuse through encounters with chatarreros, reflecting on material flows, value, and disposal in the city. Her research is informed by an “education of attention” through movement, practice, and making. MATCH Capacity Building Workshop – Barcelona What an inspiring few days in Barcelona! 🌿✨ The Barcelona Capacity Building Workshop, held under the title “Shifting Shores: Climate Justice and restorative practices in the Mediterranean,” addressed the climate crisis not only through its environmental impacts, but also through the human displacements it produces and the complex geopolitical situations it generates. The programme mixed exchange and information sessions, case studies, and visits, alongside dedicated sessions presenting the ongoing MATCH residency and reflecting on the previous residency in Marseille. As with the previous workshops, the aim was to provide a context conducive to learning and fruitful dialogue for all participants, in particular the MATCH artists. The programme closed with an open public session titled “Beyond borders. Situated knowledges in times of climate collapse,” showcasing experiences addressing climate change from different angles, from arts to science. This MATCH Capacity Building Workshop was co-organised with the support of La Escocesa @laescocesabcn and most sessions took place at their premises in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona. Set in a former industrial site – originally a Scottish factory producing chemicals for the textile industry (1852–1999) – La Escocesa is now a centre for artistic creation and residencies within the “Creative Factories” programme of the Municipality. Thank you all for your participation, ideas, and contributions throughout these days. Work-in-progress at the fourth MATCH residency – Barcelona Residency: Foraging Practices and Collective Futures Artists Nafsika Hadjichristou @alloikosmoi and Hannah Taylor @hannah.rebekah.art are currently in residence at @laescocesa in Barcelona. Accompanied by permaculturist and art historian Júlia Soler (@juliassoler ), they are foraging the natural ecosystem of Barcelona and engaging with artists, activists and neighbours of the center. 🌱 Nafsika Hadjichristou is exploring how we can imagine collective futures beyond climate collapse. Through a series of three workshops, she invites participants into processes of imagination, reflection, collective collage-making and creative experimentation. Alongside this, she is researching living examples across Barcelona that explore alternative ways of living and relating to the world around us. 🧵 Hannah Taylor is experimenting with locally sourced materials— weaving, painting, assembling, and dyeing—as a way of exploring how we build connections and community through non extractive engagement with the environments in which we live. She works between urban and rural contexts, both of which have been affected differently in their growing practices by the climate crisis. She is exploring traditional ecological knowledge of plants and the craft practices related to them in the Catalan and wider Mediterranean context, participating in and creating moments of collective gathering and conversation.
