whew! 😅 together, we survived the 2025 matcha shortage 😫😫 thank you to everyone who embraced our temporary Hojicha Thomas menu and supported while we prepared for two weeks without our matcha. In our Hojicha era we actually discovered some new favorites (that will be incorporated into our main menu soon 🥳)—so we can’t thank you enough for giving them a try 💗💗💗
Matcha Thomas’s 4th birthday is just around the corner and soon we’ll be announcing a line up of special events/drinks that will be rolling out over the course of this month. Stay tuned! 😼

Matcha shortage diaries!!!! 😳🍵🫶🏽 Meet our alter tea-go for the next two weeks "Hojicha Thomas" ☁️☁️☁️
In 3 weeks we ran out of 2 months(!!!!) worth of matcha, which is the incredible result of this community’s love and support, but also lined right up with the global matcha shortage 😭😭 It’s all so bittersweet.
Our farm partner in Japan will be harvesting their tencha leaves (the youngest, premium green tea leaves that get stone-milled into matcha) in early May and then shipping to us after processing 🌱🌱🌱
Because closing again isn’t an option, we have to pivot! As a matcha brand, this is a bit scary, but we are doing our very best to roll with the punches and stay positive—Our menu will be temporarily focused on Hojicha (roasted green tea) lattes plus our artisan bubble teas. We were aiming to have this new menu finished in 24hrs 😭 but testing is taking longer and so is menu design and updating our POS system. To allow more space to get this menu switch right, we’re taking this weekend to get everything in place for resumed, regular hrs next week!
These Hojicha recipes we’ve been developing are truly so creamy, dreamy, and such a fun opportunity to extend a spotlight to Matcha’s smoky sister 🤎✨✨✨ although we speak to matcha fans, we want to shine a little bit of the spotlight on Hojicha and give everyone a special experience trying each flavor we’ve curated—more on the menu soon !!!
