Chorégraphié et interprété par les directeurs artistiques de Moov, Alea de Castro et Arnaldo Betancourt Silva, « The Underground » est un spectacle immersif de danse de rue qui met en valeur les styles Waacking, Hip Hop, Breaking, House et Popping. À l’issue du spectacle, les élèves ont été invités à s’essayer à ces styles de danse, à partager leurs pas et à s’encourager mutuellement dans une ambiance ludique qui a favorisé leur découverte de la culture de la danse de rue. The 35th MASC Young Authors & Illustrators (MYAI) Festival came alive on May 5–6, 2026 at the @scitechmuseum , bringing together Grades 4–8 students for two days of creativity, storytelling, and artistic exploration. Hosted by MASC artist @jacqui.thestoryteller , participants engaged in dynamic, hands-on workshops led by an inspiring lineup of Canadian authors and illustrators , including @jamaalamirakbari , @michellekadarusman , @hilarysbooks , @spookymeggie , @chadgalucas and @lesley.livingston . From poetry and performance to comics, character development, dialogue, and visual storytelling, students were invited to experiment, imagine, and build their own creative worlds, while connecting with peers who share a passion for storytelling and illustration. During both days, students were also invited to groove at lunchtime in two energetic dance workshops. On day 1, students took part in an Afrobeats dance workshop led by @regis_ochi from @moovottawa , and on day 2, Julianne Lavertu @jujulvtu shared Afro-Caribbean dance. Students learned the roots and significance of various traditional steps that helped them explore how movement can tell stories. The excitement continued as each day ended with free book giveaways, book signings, and new friendships made with fellow future storytellers.
