Joining our peers to talk about the future of real estate and how community control models can empower community members and fight displacement. We’re excited to be leading a cohort of local community organizations coming together through a series of meetings this year to share insights, experience, and best practices. SOMOS BLOCK PARTY WAS A SUCCESS… AND THERE’S MORE! Huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our spring Somos NELA Block Party. Together, we welcomed: - 42 working class vendors from across Northeast LA - 400+ attendees throughout the evening - Nearly $10K in vendor earnings supporting local families staying rooted in their communities Most of our food vendors sold out completely! A heartfelt thank you to the sponsors who made this possible — Councilmember @cd13losangeles Hugo Soto-Martínez, @clockshopla , and the Elysian Valley Riverside Neighborhood Council @elysianvalleync , + @nelamercadito , @caracolnela , @ave33farm ! We also loved our performers- in addition to those tagged in the photos, we had @dj_ocelot , and @poco_pocho ! We are excited to continue our partnership with LA Más (@mas4la ) by curating the cultural programming at the Somos NELA Night Market. The night will feature a special performance by The Izote Ensemble (@izote_ensemble ). In addition to the performance, participate in a hands-on 3D scanning and photo keychain workshop. Bring an object that reminds you of home and learn how to transform photographs into 3D scans as part of ‘subterranean convergence,’ a sculptural installation and performance score by LaRissa Rogers (@larissa_rogers ) opening at LA State Historic Park in Fall 2026.
