Haptics // engaged through drawing, moving, making or modelling - activate the brain in different ways than staring at a screen or moving a mouse ever can.
.
Seeing (and encouraging) this core part of process (both in practice, and leading up to it, during study) forms the foundation for everything to come. More of it.

MOBILIA JOURNAL | Issue 4
Great to collaborate again with @s._langley@column.au on the latest @mobilia_ broadsheet Journal 4. In a piece that delves deeper into the opportunities of a design studio as being more than a place of creative output or business, I chat to David Flack of @flackstudio_ and @davebickmore of @studio_gram about their respective approaches to working within spaces that invite the community in.
Physical copies available through @mobilia_ showrooms and @melbourneartfair (while they last!) it was released to coincide with FUTUREOBJEKT at Melbourne Art Fair.

Why Does Design Media Matter?
.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent speech at Davos captured a spirit of intention and inclusion (a familiar vein for me last year). His words - “If you don’t have a seat at the table, you’re on the menu” - in particular, resonated.
.
Having never written for @elledecorationuk previous to 2025 (an ambition fulfilled), to then have one of my features (Middle Park Residence, by @jasesullivan ) be the ‘Most Read of 2025’ is an undeniable honour.
.
While those able to engage an architect may only fall within the 1-2% of the population, design media has the ability to be an aspirational place of escape. Never more than now is digital and print platforms the vehicle to also dissolve geographical borders and differences.
.
Being a part of connecting Australian design to global audiences (and local design, to audiences in other locations) will always be important to me. Hoping the coming months continue to see new connections, relationships and collaborations emerge - led by knowledge and idea sharing at their core.
Travel and inspiration = the ultimate muse. Nothing beats a new space, fresh unexpected details (and old familiar favourites) and noticing and appreciating them differently.
.
Making sure to plan and take the time to travel more this year (arguing that doing so is/can be more important than forecasting).

A space that takes inspiration from the deep, warm timbers of the Adelaide Hills, acknowledging existing character and heritage. Calm retreat.
