Time to shout out a few more of our 2026 Mixed Bag Winners! Top Woman Angler - Nina Apperley - For the second year in a row, Nina, brought home the Top Woman angler award. Nina finished 4th in our overall standings, landing six species including a 22.5” Speckled Trout that earned her a lunker bonus!! Beach Cleanup Award - Laken Taormina - Laken, @lakent23 , managed to collect 22.47 lbs of trash as she fished the beaches last weekend edging out strong competition that saw ~75 lbs of waste turned in at the weigh in hosted by @clean.horizons Unique Catch Award - Wes Frazer - Wes, @touched.by.an.angler , finished up the weekend with six species submitted including a Belted Sandfish & Northern Sennet!! It was his SQUID on the fly that put him over the top, however, as our first non-fish Unique Catch in four years of the tournament!! Finally, a quick shootout to everyone in our Top 10. It was a hard fought tournament this year with impressive totals put up by many anglers! Most of the names were familiar, but two newcomers managed to find themselves on that final leaderboard: Clint Hathcock and @megan.woodd In Megan’s case she took her first casting lessons at the Classic early Saturday morning and landed her first speck, catfish and pinfish later that evening. Big congrats to everyone! Stay tuned for our youth awards announcement

Part #2 This year’s @the_gulf_coast_classic was one for the books! It will need to be a 2 part photo dump. This is year four for this event and each year it gets better and better. If you’ve never been to a show like this it will blow your mind the amazing talent these tyers have. The Classic wouldn’t be what it is without our awesome volunteers!!! This year more than 20 folks donated their time to helping the GCC board run this amazing event!! While I don’t have pics of everyone to share, I wanted to share what has been submitted and thank you all for the hardwork last weekend!! Special shoutout to @davidrogers_527 for taking on the mantle of Volunteer coordinator!

2 weeks ago I had the privilege to stand next to someone I’ve called one of my dearest friends of 10 years. We had beautiful weather considering it was suppose to rain, surrounded by the beautiful Rocky mountains, the weekend was filled with laughter, more Guinness’s than I could keep track of, and some of the “best” karaoke around 🤣 I got to finally meet all the family 🤪 we danced, we laughed, we even shed a few tears. Cheers to love, happiness and life time of friendships! 🍻🍻

A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure to attend our first red stick fly fishers annual spring lake Concordia fishing trip. These group of amazing humans and fishermen have been coming to this lake for more years than I’ve been alive. Despite the bad winds everyone caught plenty of fish for the group fish fry. We were able to film the experience and can’t wait to release the video. Cheers to another great adventure and more to come.

Thank you @flats_drifter for giving us one of the best fishing trips I’ve ever been on! Needless to say I’ve caught the fly fishing bug pretty bad and after this trip it’s all I can think about. We were using a purple propaganda fly tied with materials from @snakeriverfly and as they say “the proof is in the pudding”…🎣👀 and peek the red and brown, yours truly tied that 👏 We will be posting a video to our YouTube in the next two weeks so make sure you keep your eyes out for that.
