Today, Westslopes face pressure from invasive species like rainbow and brook trout, leading to hybridization and habitat loss. Through special fishing regulations and ongoing conservation efforts, Idaho is working to protect these fish while still giving anglers a chance to connect with them.

Here in South Eastern Idaho we are blessed to still have some good fish habitat including NATIVE CUTTHROAT TROUT. The Portneuf River running through Pocatello is home to multiple trout species and has had a lot of help to ensure good habitat for the small population of CUTTHROAT via efforts from the local TU and surrounding land owners.
However, recently the river facing what could easily be the end of NATIVE TROUT. A non native firm is pushing to build a data center on the banks of the restored Portneuf River to a out of state corporation to do as they please. Regardless of the outrage from citizens, the local government has put the fate of the river and its community in one persons hand following one meeting regarding the subject. Our rivers need more help than ever. Use your vote to say no.
