P a r i s After Iceland, we flew to France and had a beautiful few days in Paris. The Louvre and Musée D'Orsay with our guide @fecastellani who helped us navigate the crowds and get the most out of our precious time there. Then Musée Rodin, Sainte Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens, and attending Gregorian Mass at Notre Dame de Paris. On the long flight through Iceland again to home, I worked on some watercolors and absorbed the amazing views of France, the UK, Iceland, and Greenland. Seeing the mountains and glaciers of Greenland took my breath away. Next time you fly, look for a "glory", the plane's shadow cast onto the clouds with a rainbow halo around it. One of my favorite atmospheric phenomena. Au revoir, Paris. #painting #paris #france #travel #glory

Cannot wait to bring these stunning places to life in the studio. Paintings to come . . . . #iceland #wildbeauty #mudpots #waterfalls #skogafoss

It's official! There's now a Marsch Studios Patreon to follow! I've thought about it for years, but creating enough content to fill a Patreon is a lot of work! While teaching an intensive color theory class I had so many requests for recordings of the content that I decided to put together a Patreon to host them. Thanks to my wonderful class assistant Mary E. it's all available in video form. Now anyone can join to access lecture recordings, guided exercises, handouts, presentations and more. You can join as a free member and get lots of goodies, or join as a paid member and get full access. I hope you'll consider joining me on @patreon #patreon #marschstudios #creator #oilpainting #arteducation

Pushing color to extremes in this WIP still life. I've been building this up gradually for my Oil Painting class @art.forge.franklin to illustrate different pigment mixes, pulling color from subtle clues, and muted vs saturated palettes. These unlit white candles in shadow beautifully display just how much color is hiding in plain view. My original focus was painting this exquisite crystal globe I bought at an antique store. It showed these lovely cyan blue and magenta purple lights, so I gradually shifted my palette of colors into a CMYK selection. There was so much color in the white candles, and it could have been captured with earthier or more traditional pigments, but I wanted it to harmonize with the globe's intense coloration. So the candles are also getting glazes of cyan, magenta, and yellow. Can't wait to see this painting complete. Can't quite see the color? That's okay, it takes time to train your eyes. If you want to learn more about seeing color, choosing pigments, and mixing paint, join my 6-week color class starting March 4th @warehouse521 Link in the comments or visit and look under Weekly Classes. Hope to see you there! #oilpainting #cmyk #oilpantingclass #nashvilleartclass #learntopaint

M O R E A R T ! Saw a post this morning from @dotsjournalapp about how the best and most successful goals are focused on moving toward something good, rather than avoiding the bad. If you'd like to move toward something good this year, I hope you'll consider taking an art class with me this year. Painting and creative pursuits provide so much joy, satisfaction, and connection - I see this anecdotally, and there are also many scientific studies on the subject. Take a look and join me! Oil Painting I is on /classes The other classes are on /2026-weekly-classes Since IG doesn't enable links, copy paste those links or see my story later today, which will have direct links. #artclass #nashvillearts #paintingclass #learntopaint #creativity
