We had an amazing few days painting and diving into COLOR, FORM and FEELING with SARAH SEDWICK, March 27-29th!
From planning with compositional and value sketches to premixing color, students built a strong foundation before painting . Sarah gave generous, insightful feedback all weekend, and we wrapped up by creating and painting our own still lifes.

James demonstrated his approach to painting and shared helpful information on color mixing emphasizing importance of having warm and cool colors in a painting. We kicked off 2026 with an amazing workshop at Warehouse 521! “The Drama of Still Life” with Maggie Siner. From February 5-8, students looked for patterns of light and dark in still life arrangements to create dynamic compositions in oil. Maggie encouraged students to find beauty in the ordinary and see the world in color and shapes rather than object identity. As Maggie said “if you look at shapes of light, you find the beauty in things that are not beautiful because the beauty is in the light”.
Maggie will return in November to teach Simplifying the Clothed Figure, and we can't wait! #oilpaint #stilllife #color #artworkshop
