McMaster baseball alum and engineering graduate Mark Zanette has officially qualified for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games as a member of Canada’s four-man bobsleigh team.
Identified through RBC Training Ground, Zanette turned an unexpected opportunity into a dream realized and will now represent Canada on the world’s biggest stage.

From the outfield to the Olympic track 🇨🇦🛷
Former Marauder baseball standout Mark Zanette (BEng ’23) has officially qualified for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games, earning his spot on Team Canada’s four-man bobsled squad after a rapid rise through the national program.
“It’s been a dream since I was a little kid,” Zanette said. “If I ever got the opportunity to represent Canada at the Olympics, I was going to take it - and I just took it and ran with it.”
A Marauder and Mechanical Engineering grad, Zanette made the leap from varsity baseball to bobsled through the RBC Training Ground program and will now compete on the sport’s biggest stage.
