To all the dreamers that dream this one is for you. I was just a boy born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio that had a imagination out of this world. I learned that happiness comes in waves and my safety net has always been Ohio. Cleveland, Ohio where I had my first of everything from love, family, friendships, drama and the creative spark that booms in me. New York had a way of challenging me in ways I never knew I quite needed. You see I owned nothing until I put it all into perspective and that came with insecurities, friendships, work, love, Balance, Breaks and Boundaries.
Thank you so much Voyage Ohio and the Voyage Magazine team for allowing me to tell my story for the world to see like WOW “Rising Star”. Thank you to everyone whose played an important role in my life rather we speak or parted ways, you’ve all inspired me, watched me grow and even when I wasn’t my best self, taught me so many lessons to be the man I am today 🥹💚. That type of love and life lessons never go unnoticed. I cry for the big victories and even more so at the small ones because they matter. To my family and circle this one is for US because we’re doing what most said we couldn’t. 💚🤞🏾God knows I’ve been told more No’s than Yes and every time I would flip the envelope! I passed the hardest moments alone, while everyone believed I was fine until I started believing more and having those outlets to pour out to so that they could pour into me. I’m forever grateful!
I tell myself to Be thankful that you’re not where you use to be in life. You’ve outgrown so much and you’re still learning. You’ve survived a lot and it made you a better person. Give yourself credit for making it this far. Some of your best days are ahead of you. Keep going and don’t give up. I truly can’t express how honored I am to receive the 40 Under 40 Award from my Alma Mater Kentucky State University during homecoming week. It’s because of the hiccups in life that have brought me here in this moment. I use to negotiate my value in relationships, friendships, family and even the work I put out there. I learned that failing IS stopping and we sometimes are our own worse critic. I’ve had some good days and even weary ones, I’ve even had days where I wanted to give up on life because depression is a one hell of a drug. You have to tell YOUR STORY for YOU so that it may motivate and inspire someone else along their journey on this thing we call life. Be the brand that never ends and if you haven’t figured out that it is LOVE then everything is just a blur. Thank you so much to the Kentucky State University Alumni Association, my family and close friends and even the social media world of friends that make me feel like I’m on top of the world 🥺. I still have a long way to go and I hope that this touches someone to not be afraid to fail and to know that victory belongs to you no matter what 💚💛 it all starts with you! ONWARD, UPWARD, FORWARD! Last night reminded me exactly why @brandy will forever be one of the greatest to ever touch a mic. The love and appreciation I have for her as an artist runs deep.
