My mother was always happy on Mother’s Day because she had a habit of always being happy. It was a gift, like gravity, that pulled us in. To be in her company was to be lifted up, and she was a great mother to many who weren’t her own…
and she loved strawberry shortcake.
Kim Wadsworth rattled a few dormant memories when she sent me this image of mine from a bridal shoot when she was a fashion editor (one of the many titles that adorn her like the stylishness she wears effortlessly and cannot avoid). It is from the early 90s - and is an easy testament to her tenacity. Having decided that I’d like to shoot our model in the arms of a live oak near Ocean View, she gladly climbed it from a ladder below and helped blanket the limb with toweling so as not to damage the dress. Giving 100% was her starting baseline and never where she finished. But what is equally intriguing (for me) is that here, plying our early craft, younger and curious, we had few ideas about where we might end up and 30-plus years later her work is just as it was then, only more finely crafted, and we still have opportunities to play together. Something we were surely not sure of way back then. Much to be thankful for…she reminds me.
To the irrepressible Mrs. Wadsworth

GO THERE. Drink the martini. Eat the food. Don’t look back.
The excitement of a new eatery (with good food), is not lost on us….welcome to the neighborhood.
