PAST PRESENT (tone poems across time) is out now 💿✨
Standing in front of the Itsukushima Shrine torii a few days ago, I couldn’t help but feel the presence of my father—some 72 years after he stood in this exact same place as a young man beginning his post-war journey in Japan. Mirroring the image on the album cover, revisiting Miyajima this past week deepened my connection to both the music and the meaning behind it.
Past Present is more than an album—it’s a sonic pilgrimage, a meditation on memory, grief, healing, and the kind of love we sometimes only come to understand in hindsight. Created before the journey even began, the music somehow already knew where it needed to go. Synths, harmony, and field recordings from across Japan—each piece a tone poem, each sound a step closer to catharsis, acceptance, and embrace.
This release marks the end of one journey and the beginning of many more. I’m so grateful to share it with you today.
