1 - ABOUT
Welcome, I’m Margo - director and designer of residential interior and building design studio, Margo Reed Design.
With 25 years of industry experience, design is woven through my bones. My childhood was filled with construction site visits, sneaking looks at Dad’s drawing board, or perusing Mum’s sewing room. It was in these moments I learned to observe, select, and understand the subtle interplay of texture, colour, and form.
The journey of design has taken me from a small NSW town to Sydney, Milan, and back again. After completing a BA in Interior Design in Sydney, I pursued a Masters in Design in Milan Italy, where I developed an enduring love of travel, culture, and the layering of old and new.
I’ve learned from and worked for some of the country’s most renowned creatives, including Heather Buttrose, Renato D’Ettore, and Baz Luhrmann + Catherine Martin, before spending a decade as Head Designer and Creative Director at The Designory.
Now, through my own studio, I bring together hundreds of projects and this lifelong experience with a quieter, more intentional rhythm of life in Noosa.
Beyond design, I find joy in the quietness of home, noticing the beauty in everyday details; alongside travel that challenges, excites, and refreshes my soul. A balance that continually inspires my creative practice.

2 - MY APPROACH
I absolutely love the challenge of creating homes that are both effortlessly beautiful and deeply functional.
For me, design is more than arranging walls, selecting finishes, or sourcing furniture, it’s about creating a home that feels like a reflection of you - how you live, what you value, and the rhythms that bring comfort to your daily life.
I approach the elements of a buildings’ structure, interior detailing, and style as part of an overall story. Each element from large scale planning to the smallest detail of a tap finish, contributing to the narrative of your home.
It’s not about chasing trends or creating a “perfect” image; it’s about weaving together details that are timeless, meaningful, and true to you.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: home is a feeling.
It should feel like your sanctuary the moment you step inside - deeply functional, effortlessly beautiful, and quietly layered with intention.

3 - MY APPROACH
Over time, I’ve discovered that the best homes are created when I trade volume for focus. My process is intentional and considered and I take on only a handful of projects each year, allowing me to fully immerse in every space, finish, and detail with depth and intention.
Quality, detail, and purpose form the foundation for homes that feel timeless and when these are aligned, a house becomes more than shelter; it becomes a sanctuary that nurtures, restores, and inspires every day, and this is exactly what I love to create.
Inspiration, for me, is everywhere. Travel, history, and architecture shape the larger vision, while the smallest details, like the way light moves across a surface, the texture of stone underfoot, influence the subtleties.
By staying engaged with the world around me, I continually uncover the beauty that guides my creative practice.
Every project begins with listening: to the property and its surrounds, to your lifestyle, your rituals.
From there, I translate those threads into a design that is functional, layered, and effortless to live in.
Because for me, that’s what great residential design is all about - creating a home that isn’t just seen but felt.
A space that welcomes, soothes, and brings you joy every single day.
Thank you for joining me here,
Margo xx

Design lovers! If you’re looking for a new show to watch, this is it...
Yes I spend my free time watching design + renovation shows. I absolutely love them! My design mind never turns off.
Found on HBO, “Capturing Home” is one that features the creative work of @katemartindalestylist + @amyneunsinger . Merging both styling and photography each episode showcases how they beautifully transform a room - first through their lens, and then through their insane collection of props, vintage finds and creativity. I want to visit their office so bad!
Each mood board is created through a collection of items. From the client, from their collections and from their surrounds. A branch of lemons, a gilded mirror, a swatch of fabric. Layered and layered and then photographed.
Please ladies... launch a book from each episode you’ve captured 🙏🏼

ALMA HOUSE
Our new build project currently in the design + concept phase; a family home with European Spanish lifestyle and architectural influence.
The background... last year after spending time in Barcelona + Ibiza, as we flew out, I put to the universe how I’d love to have a client with ideas of a Spanish style home.
I’ve always loved the relaxed lifestyle and character filled finishes and tones and was even more inspired from this trip.
Soon after a meeting with a client I received a text, “Would you be interested in a project in Newport?” Perfect timing! I adore Newport and with a project coming to completion I was opening my books.
Within our first call they’d mentioned how they’d lived in Barcelona and wanted to recreate the beauty and lifestyle of Spain into a family home here, surrounded by the most luscious forest surround.
And this is how Alma House was born…

Hello Gingers!
A few weeks ago we drove past the most beautiful timber-clad building in the Noosa Industrial Estate. It was closed but I made my husband turn around so I could take a closer look.
I started following @gingers_noosa soon after, and not long later, Caroline kindly invited me in to experience the space.
Yesterday I visited and spent the morning exploring their outdoor furniture collection, perfectly suited to Noosa’s relaxed, outdoor way of living. The space itself is beautifully considered, and Caroline’s eye extends far beyond furniture, with a curated mix of lifestyle pieces… think colourful hats from Greece, Saardé towels, Business & Pleasure umbrellas, and sculptural pots to bring greenery into your home.
We ended up chatting for hours (all while very comfortably settled into the furniture), and I can honestly say the experience is just as thoughtful as the design.
A beautiful new addition to the area - I’m looking forward to seeing what unfolds next.
I recommend a visit to @gingers_noosa on your next Noosa trip

LUMA HOUSE: our home, and my most challenging project yet!
Early selections are underway… and the client is my husband and so difficult to deal with 😬
He’s full of big ideas, constantly shifting opinions, and somehow pushing for a renovation while holding the budget hostage.
Designing for clients? So easy!
Designing for myself/my husband?
Oh my goodness, this is a whole different story. I have NEVER had to sell my ideas to someone like my life depends on it. While he’s my biggest fan you’d think he’d believe in me since I’ve been doing this for 25+years but apparently, he’s not quite there yet for our own home.
He even has the audacity to tell people the ideas I’ve fought for are his 🫠
Originally, we had bought the house to flip, transforming the exterior within the first month and while doing so fell in love. With the house, the neighbours, the area.
Nearly five years later, we’re still here, ready to shape the interior of the home to truely reflect us...
I can confirm I’m living out all of my design processes alongside creativity, patience, and negotiation.
Behind every seamless project, including my own is decision-making, refining, and keeping things on track, even when the client is as impossible as mine is!
Here’s to a fun project ahead! Send prayers 🙏🏼
Re-living the most incredible day we spent within the vineyard and award winning architecture of @marchesiantinori in Tuscany, just a short drive from Florence.
A jaw dropping experience as raw steel stairs coil from the underground levels through to the vineyards above, floating through cantilevered concrete.
Surrounding the walkways are the most stunning antique terracotta pots from the 1800’s once used for storage, and in the underground cellar terracotta bricked walls frame the sky-high curved interior while glass framed tasting rooms jut out into the abys.
After enjoying the Chianti Classico we finished the tour with the most beautiful long lunch surrounded by the garden - a quintessential European setting.
Travel is expansion of the mind, creativity and soul and an absolute must in my creative pursuit.
Days like this remind me why I chase inspiration everywhere I go.

HAVEN HOUSE - BATHROOM
A beautiful sanctuary of calm, created for everyday living.
A textured feature wall lit from above for light to flow down and highlight its calm presence is a detail I adore.

2025 IN REVIEW
As we drive down the east coast from Noosa to Sydney to enjoy time with friends and family over the coming weeks, I’m reflecting on what a wonderful year this has been. A year I’ve stepped up and shown my work to the world under my own name.
I’m so proud to be sharing my creations, and even more proud of the trust my clients have in me.
In a year that was full to the brim here’s some stand out moments:
1 After years of being hacked my saviour of a husband recovered this account 🙏🏼 Hi, thanks for being here!
2 To align with my new page, branding and vision @bybertie.co captured me perfectly!
3 Complete with beautiful new branding by my friend @chris_l__
4 Our Haven House project was complete and unsurprisingly sold before auction. They say don’t work with friends but this was an absolute pleasure!
5 Our Verde House was designed, detailed and our lucky clients are experiencing their new home in time for Christmas celebrations. I can’t wait to share with you this home next year as the final pieces are complete.
6 We’ve also finished the year with the final design and handover of the construction package of Bridle House. A stunning former equestrian barn turned luxury home in Kangaroo Valley that I honestly want to move into.
7 Our newest project Alma House, located in Newport is ready for us to begin next year. This new build will feature the client’s love of Spanish lifestyle and the site’s surrounding rainforest view.
8 And as always this year was filled with my love for travel; forever expanding my creativity and soul. Featured, a visit to the incredible @marchesiantinori which absolutely blew me away.
With that, I’m ready for a Summer break filled with friends, family, hopefully long sunny days at the beach, adventures along the east coast and most importantly relaxation where the days merge into each other; sprinkled in with some creative home projects I’ve been longing to complete to fill my soul and prepare for an exciting year ahead.
Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a big thank you for your support this year.
Margo xx
As I gently close the door on a wonderful year, I’m putting away my laptop with a heart filled with gratitude and joy.
Sending a huge thank you to my wonderful clients in putting your trust in me to create your dreams, knowing this year is even more special as you celebrate in your new home.
And a massive shout out to all the trades, consultants and suppliers who’ve brought all the ideas and dreams to life. As always, I couldn’t do it without you.
Wishing you all a relaxing break and thank you for such kind support. Please hold your loved ones tight this season.
See you for an exciting 2026!

TRAVEL DIARIES - Barcelona, Spain
As we close out the year, I’m reminded of some of the incredible travel highlights I’ve been able to experience that filled my inspiration cup.
This year we ended our European summer with a short weekend in Barcelona, and it was absolutely not enough time.
For a city I’ve only ever spent a handful of days in each time I arrive I fall in love with it over and over again.
It has a vibrancy to it, a city filled with art, craft and creativity. It’s open hearted and just absolutely beautiful.
From doorways that make you stop in your tracks, sweet details like water fountains and shells inset into walls.
Modern cafes (and don’t start me on all the baked treats!) found within traditional Art Nouveau decorated architecture, colour everywhere and of course the incredible creativity of Gaudi found throughout the city streets.
As a lover of Spain and travel we will definitely be back to experience even more of this cities character and charm.
