Displacement. Migration. Memory in motion. What happens when the body becomes the only language left? For @liminal.rehab , it started 13 years ago—inspired by the poem “Being Brought from Africa to America” by Phyllis Wheatley—before they even realized that movement would become their lifelong vocabulary for navigating identity, illness, and healing. Rediscovering strength through dance, their choreography lives in the space where words fall short. Pain, anger, dissociation—transformed into something visceral, something seen, something felt. Dance doesn’t simplify the being, it holds everything. Captured through the lens of @marcusriggs , the approach remains simple: create space, build trust, and let the artist fully exist. Djam Leeli, A Necroromantic, performed by choreographer Djibril Sall (@liminal.rehab ) is a performance piece that maps the topography of deathly blackness onto the Atlantic ocean. Where race emerges here not only as a political identity, but as a European delusion animated by excessive production and movement along the Atlantic seas. In collaboration with photographer Marcus Riggs @marcusriggs , Sall and Riggs interview one another about the Black Atlantic and their collaboration to depict the performance piece. As the winter comes to a close and spring is on the way, so are a fresh round of online editorials for this new season 🌺 We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with amazing performers such as the cover girl Lois Alexander ( @loie__ ), to creating a joint interview between choreographer Djibril Sall (@liminal.rehab ) and photographer Marcus Riggs (@marcusriggs ) and highlighting an intimate letter from @islaberlin founder Charissa Chioccarelli (@charrisla ). The phenomenal talent that is Gouled Ahmed (@xawaashking )sharing two bodies of work exploring the theme of memory and belonging ,identity and embodiment through textiles and self portraits. Jan Remschnigg (@janremschnigg ) shares his photography of visual observations within urban environments.
