“Welcome to Cultures of Assembly, a project by the Chair of the City of Esch. We are currently developing a crossover-format that consist of a digital platform alongside a physical neighbourhood agency in the centre of Esch, in the region of the Minett.
Our physical space and its virtual communication tool aim to generate an ongoing series of productive dialogues between past, present, and future identities, its physical spaces, and the various publics and individuals who claim it.
Our projects promote public negotiation through unconventional academic formats and research. Our goal is to generate spaces of encounter that promote cultures of assembly.
As urban researchers, we are interested to critically discuss and mobilize collective memories to inform future processes of urban regeneration in Esch, shifting from an European center for steel production towards a post-industrial geography for research, technology, knowledge, and service economy. In this process, we work and collaborate with an extensive group of internationally renowned experts and practitioners from various fields and backgrounds.”

Tomorrow will be the start of the second block of our 4-day colour workshop in the Product Design Department of Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.
@hfg_karlsruhe@hfg_karlsruhe_pd
In the second block we will look at digital and analogue colour spaces. How do they differ and what challenges do we face when colours are transferred from one space to another?
As in the first block, we are pleased to announce a guest speaker.
On Friday morning, Sandra Höner zu Bentrup, colour and material designer of Mazda Motors Europe will provide us with insights into the world of car colours.

»Martin Pöll’s work is based on natural materials; as formal idiom, as working material and as experiential space, nature serves him as repertoire from which he develops his sculptures. Pöll’s works frequently show profound combinations of form and material, such as casting a waterlily leaf from tree resin – which, on first sight, looks like the burned cross-section of a log –, or a piece of tree bark, leaning against the wall, shaped like corrugated metal. The individual steps of the process to make a raw material viable often become visible elements in Pöll’s exhibitions: from a bar of solid resin to bottled tree resin fumes, from terrazzo tiles with pieces of resin to resin schnapps served at the opening. His exhibitions all evolve around the combination of basic forms which derive from the geometric shapes found in his natural materials. Pöll combines these forms into static constructs of identical repetition which offer an unlimited potential for rearrangement and new composition. Martin Pöll (*1990 in South Tyrol) lives and works in Karlsruhe, Germany.«
