Bella Triste #74 The second issue we designed for @triste_bella a magazine for young literature. Every issue changes in format and layout. The only two things that stay the same are the use of @simonknebl extensive METAFONT archive for body texts and the color red. With this we are exploring how the form of a text influence the way texts it is read. It is sold through out train staion kiosks all over Germany and every issue more or less chameleons as another kind of publication. #74 sits somewhere between a softcover pulp novel and a manga book. A light black and white slate is wrapped in a dust jacket poster with an artwork by @ffanzy thank you to all thr authors! The next issue to be published @prosanovafestival is currently being developed.

Many thanks to: @hannahsakai @bruno_jacoby_official @jmr.schaefer @accidentalinterestbooks @gruppo.due Im Rahmen von Off the Shelf No. 5 sprachen Hannah Sakai und Bruno Jacoby über die Entstehung einer neuen Schriftart anlässlich der Ausstellung Lucy McKenzie – Orchestrion. Ausgangspunkt für diese typografische Entwicklung war – wie schon beim Logo des fjk3 – die historische Fliesendecke des Kunstraums selbst. Diese architektonisch-kontextuelle Verankerung macht den Prozess zu einem besonderen Beispiel gestalterischer Auseinandersetzung mit Raum und Geschichte. Im zweiten Teil des Abends gaben Johanna Schäfer und Bruno Jacoby Einblicke in ihren unabhängigen Verlag Accidental Interest Books (AIB). Der 2019 gegründete Mikroverlag folgt keiner fixen Programmatik, sondern publiziert Bücher, die aus künstlerischer Intuition und persönlicher Neugier entstehen. Mit kleinen Auflagen, poetischer Sprache und experimenteller Gestaltung versteht sich AIB als Plattform für Themen abseits des Mainstreams. „speaking in tongues / speaking in public“ was performed / exhibited at @ausstellungshalle_khk on 6 Dec 2024 as part of a workshop with graphic design students at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, featuring Rebecca Scheibke @becccina as the hopeless romantic Olivia Völlnagel @olivia.voe as the innocent child Newroz Agnes Ayalp @newrozagnes as the oldest sibling Marie-Luise Fichtner @marieluisefichtner as the thoughtless “everyday man” Marit-Helen Brunnert @theycallme_marit as the bully Sophia Balasubramanian @s0ba_05 as the popular one Abetare Prenici @taare_ as the busy one Paige Hienz @pages_ofpaige as the biased judge It was later published as a script in February 2025 where (once more) they spoke… in front of everyone. Sie betrachten Freund*innenschaft als eine Form der politischen Solidarität und Organisierung, insbesondere in unserer gegenwärtigen politischen Lage.
