We still have a limited amount of tickets left for our evening with the major international capacities Richard Sennett, Janet Sanz, and Finn Williams 💫 The session is organized and will be moderated by the curators of the exhibition IMPERFECT ASSEMBLIES and research project THE ESCH CLINICS, Markus Miessen & César Reyes Nájera. 🗓️ 27.5.26 ⏰ 16:30-19:30 🎟️ 150 DKK (100 DKK for CAFx Community Members) 🎟️ VIA LINK IN BIO How do shared spaces and community goods and initiatives—the commons—gain recognition in today’s cities? While laws and policies often define what counts, many meaningful initiatives grow informally—through local efforts, mutual support, and long-term commitment. At a time when political polarisation narrows public debate, this session asks how diverse grassroots practices can be recognised and supported rather than ignored or dismissed. Framed by Markus Miessen and César Reyes Nájera, and featuring Richard Sennett, Janet Sanz, and Finn Williams, the conversation highlights how cities can open up space for different ways of living together and legitimise a wider range of voices and experiences. The event is presented in collaboration with @kglakademi

The Danish election is approaching. If you’re still unsure who to vote for, or simply want to learn more about democracy and why it matters, come by our exhibition Imperfect Assemblies. 💚
Imperfect Assemblies: Towards New Civic Infrastructures explores how democracy isn’t just something that happens at the ballot box, but something shaped through spaces, conversations, and encounters between people. The exhibition invites you into face-to-face discussions and rethinks how we participate in our cities and local communities. The election is March 24, but you can visit the exhibition Monday–Friday every week from 10:00–16:00. We thank @dreyersfond , @statenskunstfond , @realdaniadk and @koebenhavnskommune for making the exhibition possible.

Around Imperfect Assemblies hangs a series of demands, questions and provocations. Pieces of language that foster discussion, civic tension - and forces us to ask: What should the architecture of democracy look like today? What infrastructures and institutions can support not only civic participation but also care, solidarity, and belonging? From February 19th, Cultures of Assembly—founded and led by internationally renowned architect and writer Markus Miessen— take over our space at Halmtorvet 27 with an exhibition where architecture is mobilised not as representation but as procedure: a method for structuring collective presence, dialogue, and negotiation. Opening: 19th February from 16:30-19:00 Join us for the exhibition opening on February 19th and hear Markus Miessen & César Reyes Nájera in discussion on the conceptual framework of the exhibition. You can also look forward to hearing representatives from Centrum för studier av markanvändning (CSAM) - an independent think tank, curating practice and gallery space located in Malmö, Sweden - on how experimental institutions and shared protocols negotiate legitimacy within and beyond formal political frameworks. And hear Gustav Eden reflect on skateboarding culture and grassroots self-organisation, as well as informal gatherings, spatial appropriation, and peer-based governance as alternative forms of civic legitimacy. Exhibition is on from 19 February - 27 May Graphic Design: Fabian Bremer Provocations at banners: Matylda Krzykowski & Felix Ganzer: Victoria Percovich Gutierrez, Åsa Bjerndell, Karl Landin (CSAM): Pelin Tan, Meriem Chabani & John Edom, Valentin Bansac; Ethel Baraona, Anna Puigjaner, Pol Esteve (CARE Chair ETH); 2001, Eva Ruof & Liselotte Düsterhus, Gustav Eden, Carolin Genz, Mohammed Zanboa, Finn Williams, Franziska Peschel Curatorial & production assistance:
Gustav Nielsen, Michaela Prunotto. We thank @dreyersfond , @statenskunstfond , @Realdania and @koebenhavnskommune for making the exhibition possible.
