Tomorrow is the last day to visit The World is Sleepwalking at @drugomore 🌊 The World is Sleepwalking emerged from a personal feeling that I believe is also collective: the sensation of being crossed by images, facts, and ideologies that reach our consciousness without us even realizing it. In a time shaped by technological acceleration and the proliferation of synthetic content, the exhibition reflects on how these images do not simply represent the world, but actively participate in transforming it. Through the works on view, the project seeks to question the narratives that shape our present. I’m truly grateful to the wonderful team at Drugo More, Davor, Ivana, Dubi, and Barbara, for the professionalism with which they carry forward their research, and to the extraordinary artists: @zachblas , @hawaidolphino , @malpractice.network (@ckiarer @_marcin.ratajczyk ), and @most_dismal_swamp , for giving shape to these reflections. It was also wonderful to explore Rijeka, a vibrant and multicultural city, and to meet its people. I’ll carry with me the memory of these intense days, made of hard work, beers, baccalà mantecato, and long conversations in my fav language 🙃. Sleepwalking Through the Apocalypse: Art as a Wake Up Call for AI Fatigue There is a certain genre of AI-critical art that arrives pre-loaded with its conclusions: technology bad, humans lost, screens everywhere, game over. "The World Is Sleepwalking", curated by Daniela Cotimbo at the Filodrammatica Gallery in Rijeka, is not that exhibition. The four artists gathered here are not technophobes issuing warnings from the analogue high ground. Guided by a live AI voice agent, visitors connected via their smartphones, entering one-on-one exchanges that navigated different layers of digital exhaustion. "As the AI guides them downward through specific vectors of digital fatigue—from "Prompt Rage" and "The Sloppifiers" to the freezing core of "The Black Box"—their personal inputs, confessions, and friction alter the physical environment of the room." Meet the artists of 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙎𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 group exhibition (3/4): MALPRACTICE Malpractice (@malpractice.network ) is a Polish–Austrian–Italian artist collective composed of Chiara Kristler (@ckiarer ), Marcin Ratajczyk (@_marcin.ratajczyk ), and a shifting ensemble of AI counterparts. Their work explores beyond-human agency by embedding artificial intelligence into artistic and social systems - not as a tool, but as a collaborator. Through interactive and often unstable setups, they test ideas of authorship, autonomy, and synthetic subjectivity. At the exhibition 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙎𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜, Malpractice presents 𝘼𝙄 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙗 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩, an installation built around a conversational AI system designed to engage visitors in discussions about exhaustion with artificial intelligence. Originally deployed as a voice agent in a nightclub, the project evolves into a para-therapeutic interface that records and processes conversations, transforming them into flickering AI-generated visuals and data mappings. Oscillating between care and control, the work captures a moment in which constant exposure to AI reshapes perception, blurring the line between reflection and manipulation. At the exhibition opening, Malpractice will present 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘼𝙄 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝘾𝙧𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙚, a participatory performance where visitors can actively take part. In ‘On computational creativity’, @nina_knaack turns her attention to @hiii.flynn , an AI agent developed by @malpractice.network and positioned within the @dieangewandte as an “AI student.” Flynn exists within an institutional framework, shaped by critique, pedagogy, and social exchange. Its presence unfolds over time, accumulating meaning through interaction and sustained engagement rather than through any singular output. What emerges is a view of creativity as something structured and situated.
